Lilly Pulitzer Windward Dress, Style File Friday

Continuing on in my spring and summer theme for clothing, I’m sharing a light and fun dress that I was able to find for a fantastic price! The Windward Dress is a casual, cotton dress from Lilly Pulitzer that I bought for less than half of the retail price with patience and luck. I’m still working on branching out from my wardrobe of many, many solid neutrals (and stripes that are essentially a neutral…), so Lilly is a perfect infusion of fun and pattern. Although Sea Ruffles (this pattern) is monochromatic, the light blue and white is not at all present in my wardrobe! Look at me, branching out like an adult. This is the story of how I actually found the dress, and my review and thoughts of it!

Style File Friday, Lilly for Target

So, in the last month or so, I’ve decided to jump into the ocean of Lilly Pulitzer. Charlotte has been the most fantastic guide throughout this process- to an outside, it can be a little overwhelming figuring out Lilly. It’s not the most expensive brand but it’s also not the cheapest by a long stretch. Today’s post is all about how I came to my first piece….

Style File Friday, Kate Spade and J Crew!

This is the final week of everything new from Christmas and my trip! My winter wardrobe is now firmly invigorated and I’m loving every single one of my new pieces. I am honing my style and slowly moving towards a more timeless wardrobe, and while it’s not a huge change, it feels right. Given an unlimited budget, I could probably outfit myself permanently with only J Crew and Kate Spade. Given that I don’t have an unlimited budget, I stick with pieces that I know that I will absolutely love!

Style File Friday, 27 January 2017

This whole adulthood thing sinks in more and more every year, and along with it my wardrobe slowly shifts to reflect it. It is sometimes difficult for me to find clothing that fits appropriately. If it’s the right length, it’s often made for Juniors and too young for someone my age, and if it’s theoretically for my age, it is usually too big for my frame and makes me look younger anyways. I was able to find a few more pieces that fit me well and looked age appropriate; turns out, I’ve discovered new stores to stop at in the States!

Style Saturday- 1 October 2016

Style Saturday is starting to look different than when I first started it. When I first started this blog, I was very much trying to establish my wardrobe as a working adult, not a student, and I was purchasing a good amount of clothing. I also was totally out to lunch on make up, and didn’t really have much of a look at all. I have finally figured out how to do a basic and polished look for my face, and my wardrobe has come together fairly nicely. I feel that now I am at the point of polishing my wardrobe and look- here are my goals for the fall! Continue reading

Books for Days

I have continued on in my frenzied reading since my last post! It’s beautiful out, and sitting with a nice candle, a good cup of tea, and a fantastic book has been a wonderful way to relax. I’m still really enjoying listening to audiobooks, though I may slowly be exhausting the books that I am interested in that are actually available through the library. When you have a good story and a solid narrator, it makes the world of difference!

Style Saturday- 27 February 2016

I have had some good luck lately in the clothing department! I am looking for spring and summer appropriate clothing that isn’t necessarily limited to those seasons, and I think I am doing well. What have I procured lately?

Style Saturday- 30 January 2016

I am half-way through my Seattle/Washington acquirings, but this week is a short break for my new Winnipeg acquirings! I am still working on the process on building my wardrobe with pieces that appropriate for work and casual wear, and I have had a great deal of success with RW & Co! It is a Canadian company, I would say equivalent to Zara in some ways. While at full price, some of their items stretch the upper limit of my budget, sales usually bring them into to my preferred price range! So, what did I buy?? Continue reading

Retail vs Outlet- Worth it?

The whole topic of buying retail as opposed to buying outlet is certainly popular right now. CBC (the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) recently aired a piece on the question of quality in outlet stores. It is not so straightforward as to be, “it’s all terrible, or it’s all quality”- but that seems to be the approach that most people take. Because I have enough of it to compare, my examples will come from Kate Spade! (Also, feel free to read my related posts, Alternatives to Outlet Stores and Tips to Prepare for Outlet Shopping!) Style Saturday: 15 January 2016, or Kate Spade gifts

I was incredibly lucky, and received quite a few Kate Spade gifts for Christmas! I don’t deserve to be spoiled like this, and I am incredibly thankful for them!!!  Continue reading
