Clinique Pretty Treats Set Review, Style File Friday

Clinique is my go-to skincare and make up company- I have sensitive skin that will break out on the spot if it doesn’t like what I put on it. I was first introduced by a friend who let me try her Moisture Surge, and I was hooked! I also love their make up, as it is fairly understated and suits my natural make up well. The universe knows timing- right before my Moisture Surge ran out, the Bay called my mom to let her know that there would be a gift with purchase. I love their small sets, because it is a great way to find new products/colours, and to get travel and purse sized products. This Pretty Treats set is no exception, and it is one of their better collections!

Every season, every style magazine, fashion ‘grammer and blogger will tell you that THESE are the trends in the upcoming season that you absolutely need in your wardrobe, lest you be an unfashionable mess. Well, unless you have an unlimited budget and an incredibly expansive wardrobe, you will in fact need to limit what trends you incorporate into your closet. It can be overwhelming to figure it out and wade through the trends, especially when it’s based on runway pictures that don’t exactly seem to fit into an average person’s wardrobe. This post is a quick guide on how to evaluate trends and work them into your wardrobe in a usable and adaptable way!

4 Clothing Care Tips, Style File Friday

I think that everyone can agree that the quality of clothing has declined steadily over the years, and that although that $5 t-shirt seems like a good deal at the time, when it is unravelling and/or shrinking within a month, it’s actually not (for you or the planet). I understand that most of us (me included) cannot afford to purchase only luxury cashmere and linen clothing, but taking the time to properly care for clothing can extend its lifespan and allows you the full value of the clothing. Yes, you may have to put a little bit more time into caring for your clothing, but I can promise it will pay off in the long run. These 5 clothing care tips will help you maximise your wardrobe!

A Winter Wardrobe: Stylish AND Warm?, Style File Friday

Although I actually do love winter, it’s incredibly frustrating right now for me to follow most style bloggers- it is not almost spring here, and to go outside without a parka, winter boots, and scarf/ mitts/ hat is literally asking for frostbite (and maybe something worse). It is difficult to be inspired and excited about your wardrobe when it is literally -35°C outside with the windchill, and everyone else is frolicking in the sun! (But please keep sharing, because it gives us hope…) Today’s post is for those of us living in the frozen tundra who attempt to be stylish but realistically have to keep all of our limbs warm- how to stay stylish in the winter! (Also, hopefully it is a look into what us snow-folks experience…)

What is Your Shopping Strategy? Style File Friday

Shopping- quite literally a mixed bag for most of us. Some of us love shopping, some of us loathe shopping, some of us avoid it like the plague, and some of us embrace it like breathing. Emotions, finances, stress, time, and countless other factors can affect our shopping experience, but taking a methodical and organised approach to shopping can help improve the experience, lead to a more cohesive wardrobe, and possibly even save you money (and time)!

3 Books on the Background of Style

As part of my 2018 Style Resolutions, I am trying to give myself as complete a style education as possible- I firmly believe that if you are passionate about something, you should educate yourself and learn as much as you possibly can. I have started with style and the industry itself; whether we like it or not, the fashion industry plays a role in all of our lives and our identities, and it is near impossible to escape it. And although we all take part, most of us live in ignorance of the bigger picture! Yes, we all know and acknowledge that sweatshops and barely-paid labour are a part of fashion, but most just push it to the side and leave it there. It is time for us to inform ourselves and play an active role in our choices, and information is the first step to style!

Fossil Emma Satchel Review, Style File Friday

As I mentioned in An Intro to Buying Designer on eBay post, I recently purchased a new handbag for myself- the Fossil Emma Satchel. The other two main purses that I was using were given to me in a different time, and I wanted something free from memories. I had been looking at the Fossil Emma and Sydney satchels for 3-4 months, and it seemed like the perfect time to take a leap. Today I will be reviewing the Emma Satchel and sharing my thoughts on it with you- so far, I’m incredibly impressed with it!
