Fossil Emma Satchel Review, Style File Friday

As I mentioned in An Intro to Buying Designer on eBay post, I recently purchased a new handbag for myself- the Fossil Emma Satchel. The other two main purses that I was using were given to me in a different time, and I wanted something free from memories. I had been looking at the Fossil Emma and Sydney satchels for 3-4 months, and it seemed like the perfect time to take a leap. Today I will be reviewing the Emma Satchel and sharing my thoughts on it with you- so far, I’m incredibly impressed with it!

An Intro to Buying Designer on eBay, Style File Friday

Although Ebay has been around for decades, I think that a lot of us forget that it’s ever there. For me personally, I don’t like auction-style purchases- I don’t like getting my hopes up on an item and then losing it, and I also don’t like knowing the cost of an item. However, a few of the bigger lifestyle and fashion bloggers that I follow have been promoting eBay and as a Canadian, it could very well give me access to brands that I normally can’t purchase. In line with my style resolution to take more risks, I decided to take a chance and buy my next handbag on eBay! I’m sharing my tips and tricks to tackling it.

2018 Style Resolutions

One of the few benefits of only sleeping 3-4 hours a night is that you have a good amount of time to think and plan. A lot of what I’ve been focusing on lately has been my wardrobe, for a few reasons: 1) it keeps me occupied, 2) I have to figure out if I like the pieces I like because I truly enjoy them for myself, and 3) there is an entire world of style and fashion information out there to keep even the most distracted insomniac focused. Making overall resolutions and plans is too overwhelming at the moment, but deciding on style resolutions is manageable (and useful); these are my 2018 style resolutions.

Red and Green Wardrobe, Style File Friday

I genuinely love wearing red and green, they are my two favourite colours. (Red works well in the fall and winter, and green is pretty for the spring and summer.) Unfortunately, I rarely have an excuse during most of the year to wear the two of them together- although they are complimentary colours, the world can’t see past their Christmas associations to be okay with it. So, when the Christmas season roles around, I challenge myself to wear red, green, or both every day of the month, and I’ve got to say, I’m getting pretty creative with it!

The Magic of Ugly Christmas Sweaters, Style File Friday

Ugly Christmas sweaters areĀ everywhere. They are in upscale department stores, in dollar stores, book stores, and even in grocery stores; turn your head in a store in October, November, or December, and you will see them for miles. You can get sweaters that are familiar characters, lovable animals, crass idiots, and even just phrases. I’m all for embracing the ugly Christmas sweater trend, because I truly believe that they hold memories in their ugliness. Today I’m sharing just why I love some of the sweaters that I have!

An Evening at the Ballet, Style Saturday

Style Saturday is back for one week! I wanted to share another style approach to an evening at the ballet or the theatre and show that there are quite a few ways to dress to the occasion without being over-the-top, black tie formal. Whenever I speak to people about attending the ballet (which is quite a lot…), I consistently hear that being inappropriately dressed, either too casually or too formally, is a concern. Typically a company won’t turn you away because of an outfit choice, but it’s always nice to feel comfortable amongst everyone else in your choices! This is another way to tackle business casual without feeling out of your element…

How to Pull Off Plaid, Style File Friday

If you take nothing else away from my closet, you will see enough plaids to cover the Highlands. Plaids are my favourite pattern, and I think subconsciously part of the reason I dislike the summer is that plaids are incredibly difficult to wear. My plaid collection is wide-ranging and hits most every variation of the pattern possible. I know that a lot of people prefer to dress completely in solids, and sometimes even solely in black, but I think that plaid is a great “entry” pattern that is easier to wear than people think! These are my tips to wearing plaid and managing your collection.

Unless you are lucky enough to have a personal shopper who handles all of the nitty and gritty parts of your shopping experience, you will come into contact with customer service at some point in the proceedings. Usually, I would say that it goes smoothly for most of us, but every once in a while, there is a snag in the proceedings and we rely on customer service to get us through the transaction peacefully. Today I’m chatting about what makes for good customer service, and what we can do to help everything along as the customer!

How to Model in Blog Photos, Style File Friday

I know that many bloggers are totally cool with being on their blog, but I find it a little weird to be on my own blog. I think that that probably says more about me than anything, but I’m not great at editing photos with people in it, me or otherwise. However, one of my best friends is an amazing photographer and when I saw that she was offering half hour mini sessions, I knew that I had to jump on it. This isn’t a post on how to actually take the photos, but rather how to be the person IN the photos- a skill unto itself!
