I’ve got a fairly conservative style of dress, in regards to colour and print. I’m slowly learning to take more risks, branch out, and not take my clothing so seriously. It doesn’t mean that I’m not going to avoid the neon pinks and yellows, but animals and multiple colours!! I’m hoping that these reviews will help at least a few people- I find that Lilly can be hit and miss with pieces and there aren’t always a ton of reviews available. So, without further adieu, my newest piece of summer clothing…
I am slowly working my Lilly pieces into my regular rotation, and the comments have slowly shifted away from, “What is that pattern??” It could be that people are broadening their style horizons, or the fact that all of my pieces are in blue patterns and aren’t quite as loud as they could be… While I am still on the hunt for my final Lilly piece (a Marlowe dress), this was a piece that I had admired for months. I forgot about it though, and went on with life…. Until I got an email from a Lilly signature store and they were selling it for half price! Charlotte was absolutely lovely and ordered it for me- it came out to less than $80 CAD when all was said and done, rather than the $150 it could have been. I’m pretty proud with my patience and willingness to let things go- sometimes they come back 🙂 While I do love how fun and comfortable these dresses are, if I couldn’t have them I wouldn’t be heartbroken, and that’s something to recognise when it comes to style!
This is the Cori Dress in the Beachbathers print, and I love it! Normally I am not a purple person, but the royal blue/ purple combo is doing something for me. It is made of Pima cotton, meaning it’s soft and machine washable. (Adulthood will make you cheer for things like machine washable clothing.) It does fit fairly large- I would recommend sizing down. It is meant to be a loose fitting dress and I do like the way that it fits but I could also have certainly wore an XXS. Over my Lilly adventures this summer, the biggest thing that I have learned is that they size on the larger end of the spectrum. We are having stupidly hot weather and having loose dresses like this are the answer!
What is your go-to piece for hot weather?

Of course tank top, t shirt, skirt, short and maxi dress. Also, I like fresh color in summer, bring us escaped from hot weather.
You look darling, darling! Definitely the right fit and style for you! So glad that you love it.
Are there any other looser styles like this?? And thank you ??
I’ll see what I can’t research for you. The Betsy’s fit tightly in the bust area but are loose from the bust underline and down.
Oh, they look so comfy!! ???
I wore one for graduation. It has rose cutouts on it ??? Perfect for an AO∏ to wear for graduation, no? LOL
That would be perfect for an Alpha Gam, too!! One frustration I have with Lilly is that there are so few consistent styles- who knows when they will make a Betsey again, if at all??
There was a few on Poshmark. Now I don’t know if there are anymore. But there were quite a few.
Love it!!
I also choose soft, comfortable fitting dresses for the heat.
Actually I do them in winter too with long sleeves, sweaters, and leggings. LOL
I usually wear my structured dresses in the winter! I like branching out in my fabrics when the weather finally allows haha
