Long time, no see, friends! I am here to apologise and update everyone. As some of you may have noticed, I somewhat disappeared around the middle of March. I wanted to explain what happened, where you can find me, and what my plans are.
Unfortunately, my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer in September 2024. As he was in his mid-90s, there was not going to be any extensive treatment. We were very lucky and he was with us far beyond the initial six months suggested, but in March of this year, his condition deteriorated quickly and he passed at the beginning of April.
I chose to somewhat streamline when we knew the end was coming and focus my energy on spending time with him. I am extremely grateful that I was able to do so, and that he was with us for almost 97 years. He introduced me to Jane Austen and gifted me a love of watercolour painting, and is a big part of who I am.

My current plan is to return to regular posting in October 2026 with Women’s History Month following this Summer 2026 hiatus! There may be a few posts here and there, but overall I am now using the hiatus to brainstorm new ideas and evaluate everything I am currently working on. (If there is anything you would like to see when I return, please let me know!)
I am also loosely working on a book outline. This is something that I’ve been considering for a long time and I figured that there is no better time than now to try and get something firmed up.

As of right now, you can find me on Instagram, Threads, and TikTok as @AnHistorianAboutTown on all platforms. (The links are all in my signature, as well!) I’m doing fairly well with regularly posting, so feel free to see what I’m sharing! (or feel free to message me there).
I hope everyone is doing well and has had a wonderful spring,
The Historian
Cheers,
