Fitbit Flex- My Initial Thoughts

So, Amazon lived up to its promise of fast delivery- I had my Fitbit Flex in less than seven days, less than 5 business days to be precise. Obviously I charged it immediately so I could try it out!

It took maybe 20 minutes to charge fully, it started at 3/5 lights. Once that was done, I registered it on the app, popped it into the tiny band, and started doing Fitbit things. (In case you were wondering, Fitbit things are just normal things with a Fitbit on.)

It registers steps fairly well, it matches my pedometer within 1%! I left the goal at 10,000 steps- five lights means each light is worth 2,000 steps. (20% of your goal- it will adjust with your goal) You simply double tap the band to see the number of lights you have “achieved”, and the light you are working on blinks. Once you have completed your goal, it vibrates and you have all five lights! If you turn on your Bluetooth on your phone, the Fitbit will sync and you can see up-to-the-second stats.

I have used the sleep tracker each night since I picked it up. It is scary to see how many times I wake up, but interesting to see the patterns. I tried to silent alarm one evening while I was wide awake- it seems like I would wake up. I’m a little scared to test it for work, I think that’s for next weekend! I have a few co-workers who say it works like a charm, I will have to give it a try.

Overall, I’m loving it! The red band goes well with my majority red wardrobe, I don’t have to worry about carrying my phone to count steps, and I get fun “badges” for achievements.

Another fun fitness development? All of our large section is doing an active living competition for December! The three categories are steps, squats, and planks (done in time planking). My department is going full force, and now I do squats when I have to call people at work- meaning that my office is probably being entertained! It’s great for team morale, and something fun for December! (I take things seriously, so you best believe I’m going full force.)

Does your workplace do anything fitness-related??

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!
