Well, we’ve finally made it to Christmas Eve 2020. I don’t know that any of us thought we would finally get here, but we did. I know that it looks very different for a lot of us. However, I hope that you have found a way to make it special for yourself. For the last Ornament of the Day for this Blogmas, I wanted to share an ornament that is quite personal for me. This is a family ornament, and it is priceless to me, and I’m grateful that I can see it on my tree each year!
Family Ornament
My grandmother made me this beaded and embroidered ornament when I was younger, I would guess when I was roughly 6-7. She was an incredible sewer, and I wish I had 5% of her talent. (Yes, she made my stuffed moose an entire wardrobe, including different shirts and pants, and a travelling bag.) Every time i see I think of her, and it is still one of my favourite ornaments to this day. Luckily for me, it’s a soft ornament and keeps well. I’m hoping that I can become proficient enough at cross-stitch to make ornaments for my family members.
Christmas Eve
My Christmas Eve is normally pretty quiet, and this year will be quieter. We can’t have anyone from outside the household over this year, so it will just be a small dinner. I will be waking up and reading A Christmas Party, as per the poll! Agnes and I will be hunkering down in the cold- it turns out that even with her coat, she isn’t interested in dog walks at -30C… Given that I’ve read over 150 books this year, it seems fitting to spend these last few days reading more.
