Me being an ice cream addict and someone who spends far too much time in the kitchen finally gave into the ice cream recipe that is sweeping across Facebook, Pinterest, and every other form of social media out there. I’m always hesitant about miracle recipes that promise the world (and the food) in the easiest of ways but I figured that at the very most, I’m out $8 and a few hours. So, with the allure of ice cream I set off…
If there is a person out there who doesn’t like funfetti cookies, I don’t think that I want to meet them. These cookies are a lot of fun to make and a lot of fun to eat- they would be perfect for any sort of party or potluck, or quite frankly even just to eat whenever it strikes your fancy. I was in the mood for baking because it’s been incredibly grey and rainy as of late in Winnipeg and I just wanted something warm! Just a heads up, these are not made from a cake mix like most funfetti style cookies but rather completely from scratch. Now to the fun part!
Snapshot Saturday, the day where you get to see the things that I see! I like to share the little things because that is what makes us who we are and what makes the world go around. I’m also guessing (and hoping) that you are reading this blog because you have at least a tiny bit of interest in what I’m up, and want to share what you’re up to, too. This week is all about summer!
At the beginning of May, I shared that I’m trying to cut out pop! Aside from two instances where it served as mix for drinks, I’ve been doing really well. (And I don’t count those as a hit, because quite frankly, it was less than four cups total.) If you know someone who is looking to get into cooking but doesn’t know where to start, this is the easiest place to start; it’s also great if you are trying to cut down on your sugar or caffeine!
A new feature on the blog will be Make It Monday, where I will share a recipe or DIY that I have recently tried! (If I don’t have one, it will be an open post.) As I’ve discussed in earlier posts, Santa was very good to me and brought me a waffle maker. In due time, I will be making a tater tot waffle but for now, I’m sticking with a classic, standard waffle recipe. This came with the waffle maker, and so far it’s treated me fairly well.
While my fudge DIY turned out really well- all of it was gone by the end of the day at work- I know that not everyone loves fudge. I personally can eat a little bit of it, but a little bit goes a long way. I was on the hunt for something that was chocolate but not just molded chocolates. (I’ve made them before and want to branch out this year. If you are interested in making a super easy and fast treat, molded chocolates are a great starting point!) I found the idea of chocolate bark on Pinterest, and thus my new DIY was born…. Continue reading
I have deviated from my summer of recipes this week- the London Fog Earl Grey Tea Cake will be pushed later in the summer, I’m going to make it on a weekend when we are having family over so that I have more people to try it! I am trying to amp up my lunch, and change up what I’m eating every day, especially given that I’m bringing dinner, as well, two days a week. My friend Katelynne told me that she just throws pasta salad together, and I figured that I would give it a shot! Continue reading
Welcome to week two of my summer of recipes! Originally I had planned on making Corck Pot Shredded Beef Tacos, but that recipe wasn’t really that appealing to me the more time I spent looking at it. Not sure why, because I love beef! I’ve only made chicken tacos a few times, and it’s really only quickly searing cooked chicken with taco seasoning, so it was time to branch out. What Megan’s Making has never let me down for a recipe, so I figured that this was worth a shot! Continue reading
I’ve kicked off my summer of recipes! Root Beer Float Pie was first up. I was at the lake this past weekend, and I figured that it would be the perfect place to make- I just brought our handmixer from home for the whipped cream. And if you had to whip it by hand, you could! (Your arm might fall off after, though….) Continue reading
Chocolate covered strawberries are one of my favourite desserts/treats in the world. I am strictly a milk chocolate person (I know, I’m a pleb), and berries are my favourite fruit/vegetable to snack on. Sure, you can buy them at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Laura Secord, but that gets expensive if you want to bring some to an event. So, I decided to make my own! Continue reading
