A brief message to brands who email bloggers:
I have now received emails from three separate brands, all of which that said “we love follow your blog *Insert another blog*!!! Please use our product/publish a review/sign up for our site!!” Huh. Why are you emailing me to ask about another blog using your product?
I’m going to guess that they are either a) copy and pasting, and not changing the name, or b) just brain dead. My email address is anhistorianabouttown@gmail.com- that is clearly not from another blog. You would have to search out my address on my blog to find it. When I politely reply that I am not from the other blog, all three times I have received a, “Whoops! Your email must have been on their website.”
Nope, it wasn’t. I don’t leave my email address as a comment on any blog. Now you are just lying to me. And in addition to me writing off your brand as useless and inexperienced, I also am being turned off from the other blog through no fault of their own.
Maybe when I respond, you admit that you copy and pasted or that you made a mistake and that I’m not a blog you want to work with. I’m not particularly on working with companies at this point in time; it’s not an interest of mine for the foreseeable future. I won’t be offended if you tell me you don’t want to work with me. Be an adult, and speak honestly.
So, brands, when you email bloggers- read your emails before you send them. And when you make a mistake, own up to it.
Have you had any odd blog contact?
Until tomorrow,
