Okay, I’m a huge dork and I’m not afraid to admit it, as evidenced by countless blog posts on the minutiae of history. I enjoy spending time out with friends but I also appreciate having time to myself in the peace and quiet where I can think (or not think) for a few hours at a time! While I don’t know that they are as popular as they once were, I love digging into a good puzzle and making my through the shapes and corners. It might be dorky, but it’s a part of me!
For a lot of us, relaxation doesn’t actually exist in your late teens and early twenties. There is always a Starbucks trip to be made, always a road trip to go on, always something to be done. However, when you have finally arrived in your late twenties, you start to realise that you have to take care of yourself and you won’t always bounce back immediately. While you might still have the stamina to go out until 2am and then be at work for 9am the next morning, it might still be wise to invest in some down time for yourself.
Sometimes snow days are well-appreciated and enjoyed, sometimes they come at the absolute worst time and it can’t be helped. While I will be flying out to see M two days late, I’m trying to see any positive possible. The highway into the city was officially closed as of 5:45am this morning, and the city of Winnipeg recommends that only essential travel happen as streets are only being cleared slowly and you will most likely end up stuck on a road. Well, by the time you are reading this it is the 27th and I would hope that it gets better by that point. I’m not flying out until the 28th now (please send your positive thoughts my way!), so I’ve got some time to relax. What’s the plan? Continue reading
We all have stress. It comes in different forms, it affects all of us in different ways, but it makes all of our lives harder. Working at a university means that the end of August through to the end of September is pretty awful, work-wise. Thousands of students who all want things done immediately mean that I will be non-stop from start to finish of every day. Relaxation at work seems to be a bit of an oxymoron, but I have a plan to stay relaxed and motivated throughout the stress! Continue reading
