Ornament of the Day, #5

From now until Christmas, I will be sharing my favourite ornaments and their stories every Tuesday and Saturday! I collect ornaments of all kinds- our tree is not a cohesive set of ornaments, bought to be one picture but rather a mish-mash of ornaments that are all over the place but each tell their own story. The ornaments that I will be sharing are ornaments that have a unique story or a special meaning to me, and I hope that you enjoy them!

Chocolate Christmas Trees, Make It Monday

I’m going to be 100% honest and admit that I spend far too much time on Pinterest and Instagram looking at Christmas-themed appetisers and desserts. (If you are going to go for a theme, you may as well entirely embrace it, right?) One of my general goals for 2018 is to up my game in the arena of cake and cookie decorating, but as for right now, I wanted to find a dessert that looks adorable but doesn’t take a whole lot of decorating skill- these mini Christmas trees caught my eye, as they are entirely perfect for my needs!

Christmas Tree Trip, 2016 (Part II)- Blogmas

In Part I of my Christmas Tree Hunting Trip, we journeyed out into the cold to find my little Christmas tree, pick up our big Christmas tree, and enjoy the Who-ville style trees while running and riding about the property on a sleigh ride! While it was all great fun, we finally went inside out of the cold to warm up a little, fill up our stomachs, and prepare for the decorations of the season!

Christmas Tree Trip, 2016(Pt I)- Travel Thursday

This past weekend, we finally did it- we went Christmas tree hunting for the perfect trees! If you have been reading my blog in the last little bit, I’m sure that you’ve figured out that I’m kind of an elf and kind of obsessed with the holidays. As such , Christmas tree hunting is kind of a big deal for me. The tree farm is out in the country, it’s a good drive from us but in the crisp clear weather it is usually a lovely drive! This is a trip that never disappoints… Continue reading

Christmas Tree Hunting, Travel Thursday

Although I often travel fairly lengthy distances, sometimes really short trips are not so bad either. A short drive to an afternoon away can be preferable to driving to the airport, scanning through security, waiting hours for your flight, actually flying, layovers, and whatever else might need to happen. Living in the prairies isn’t necessarily the most exciting path you could choose, but there are a few hidden gems that make the extreme cold all worth it. One of my favourite local trips all year is when we go to pick up our Christmas trees from a tree farm not too far from us!  Continue reading

Getting a Christmas Tree, Canadian Style (Blogmas # 10)

We, like many other families, go and get our Christmas tree from a tree farm. Most of my friends actually have artificial trees, but we have never had a fake tree! Last year we all started going with my dad to get the tree, and it is now a fun tradition.
