If you haven’t happened to notice, royal history is one of my favourite areas of history. If I could, I would happily spend my days researching the Tudors and chatting about the Georgians to my heart’s content. (Sadly, I’ve yet to find someone willing to pay me to do this. Send them my way, please…) I’ve also connected with rather a lot of other people who also love talking royal history. So, I’ve decided to start #royalhistory twitter chats!
You can find me on Twitter at @anhistorianblog. I’m pretty active on Twitter, so I would love to chat with you there! (I know a lot of people find Twitter to be argumental, but I’m pretty relaxed there.) Through different book clubs, Twitter chats, and history groups, I have amassed a whole group of friends who are also pro-royal history, but they don’t know each other. So, I have been thinking on ways for a while now on how to bring everyone together to chat!
#RoyalHistory Twitter Chats
I will be hosting #royalhistory Twitter chats twice a month, and everyone is more than welcome to join! There will be different themes and questions for each chat. And although I typically tend to study English/British history myself, the chats are going to cover all eras and areas of royal history. (The questions will be usually be open-ended, so you can respond with anything!) Maybe you want to talk to someone about why the Queen Mother wore so much Norman Hartnell. Or you think that Henry Frederick Stuart should have more attention. In any case, share your royal history questions, thoughts, and hot takes!
When Are #RoyalHistory Chats?
#RoyalHistory Twitter chats will always be over a weekend (all of Saturday and Sunday). People are busy and in different time zones, so regular week days pose an issue, and if you miss a specific hour, you have missed a whole chat normally. This way even if you have something one day or evening, you can still respond and chat when you have time. I’ll be around the whole weekend (aside from sleeping), so the chat will continue on! And, as for specific dates and topics for 2019:

October 19/20th- #RoyalHistoryBooks (Our favourite books)
November 16/17th- #RoyalChristmasHistory Feasting
November 30/December 1st- #RoyalChristmasHistory Gifts

Questions will be posted throughout the weekend, but you can respond whenever! (You can also go past the weekend if it strikes you!)
Who Will Be There?
Me (obviously)! Hopefully you! And I also am in talks to have some historians in the field to do a brief related chat during the weekends, as well! (That would be just an hour, but the rest of the chat would continue.) So, it is the perfect chance to ask an expert their thoughts on royal history and any burning questions you may have.
