Thankfully I had forethought, and I bought tickets for Jurassic World on Tuesday- I’m going to guess we wouldn’t have been able to see it otherwise. My brother and I have been waiting for Jurassic World for what, ten months now? And it did not disappoint.
There will be no spoilers in this review, so I won’t go into too much detail. The premise? A bigger park has been operating on Isla Nublar, and in order to increase attendance, they created a new dinosaur. I think we can all see how this might go poorly. We start with Chris Pratt training his pack of raptors like an adorable pack of dogs. The raptors are pretty much the stars of this movie, and I will be disappointed if they do not get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I need to rewatch the old movies, but I felt like we got to know the dinosaurs a bit more in this movie, as opposed to the other three films. I felt like the balance between action and comedy was far better in Jurassic World, as well.
Also, as a sidenote, we went to the Cineplex VIP theatre- definitely worth the extra money! No kids there making noise, the seats are large and comfortable, you can have a drink before, and eat a meal during the meal. (In case you were wondering, there is a table with each seat.) I wouldn’t go to every movie there, but certainly a nice change.
Overall, a great summer film! Obviously you aren’t going to be solving world peace with this movie (or are you???) but it has DINOSAURS. I can’t say no to dinosaurs. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and the brother from Melissa and Joey do a great job, as do the park owner and scientists! My only qualm is I found it visually hard to distinguish between new dino and the T-Rex, but that might have been due to the fact that I wasn’t wearing my glasses… If you are at all thinking of going to see this, do it! Just be aware that the theatre will most likely be packed.
