History in the Making

A setback of sorts

I have decided that I will not take the ballet class in the summer. I am pretty bummed about it, but it’s just not the time. I had some unexpected car repairs to do, and between the cost of the class, the cost of a new bodysuit and tights, and the parking downtown two nights a week (for five weeks), it just isn’t in the budget right now.

I’m going to keep saving up, and hopefully have enough to take a class in the fall. If I’m being realistic, my feet and ankles aren’t strong enough to handle an hour and a half class twice a week right now, either. I’ve decided to start doing some basic barre work at home to start my feet moving again. I really think that yoga is getting me back into ballet shape, but it doesn’t really do much for your feet, unfortunately.

In the meantime, I’m going to start reading The Royal New Zealand Ballet at 60Amelia sent it to me for my birthday, and I could not be more excited. I have slowly been working on a history of the three royal ballet companies in the Commonwealth (Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Royal New Zealand Ballet, Royal Ballet), and I have been trying to get my hands on it for quite some time. Hopefully in the future I will actually be able to visit Amelia AND see the RNZB!

In other positive news, my flight to see M in July has been booked!

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!
