M and I enjoy getting out into nature, and he took me to Ebey’s Landing for an easy hike! It was a clear and sunny day, and I found it incredibly warm. I’m fairly certain I remarked more than once on this hike that I had never seen such warm weather in December- we have had an exceptionally mild winter here, and around then I believe Winnipeg was around -12°C covered in snow!
Fort Ebey State Park (within the Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve) is a park that marks where Colonel Isaac Ebey established a colony in the Puget Sound. He was actually the first white person to permanently to live on Whidbey Island (according to Wikipedia). The walk up starts with a replica of Ebey’s house and storeroom!

Once you get past the gate, you can either go left and down, and walk along the beach area, or go right and up, and do the hike. We took a right! Here’s the view of the road we didn’t take- still beautiful

I think that Washington is one of those places that always looks beautiful no matter what, but I’m quite thankful that it was clear so that I could really appreciate everything. Everything was green and alive and vibrant! I’m doing my beginning research into a DSLR camera, but for hikes like this, I’m glad that I was able to tuck my phone in my pocket and just enjoy it, rather than lugging a camera along!

I just have to say, isn’t it amazing what our phones can do? Absolutely lovely photos, and so convenient like you said. This looks so great and I am already missing those warm December days (first time ever saying that particular phrase)
I never thought I would say it, either! These -30°C days hit a lot harder when we consistently had -5° to -10° in the month leading up… I’m still thankful I took a little bit of time to research the camera aspect of smartphones when I was resigning my contract- I think that it’s paying off 🙂
