Now this may seem a little early to be talking about Christmas clothing but you can save this post for closer to the start of your season. If you live in the US, Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas starts today! And if you are in Canada like me, it starts November 1st. (I believe that you can stream them through different services in Europe and elsewhere.) Whether your holiday season starts now, November 1st, December 1st, or later, it is always better to have fun things to wear! I’m sharing my favourite Christmas clothing today to get you into the spirit…
A note: even if you wait until December 24th to put on your Christmas sweaters and socks, I would recommend purchasing your Christmas clothing sooner rather than later. Most stores have their holiday items out for sale now, and sizes/colours are going quickly. You can absolutely purchase it now, and put it away for when you are ready to wear it. Also, check your closet to see what you have before buying new! I have a pretty solid collection, so I don’t tend to need many new items each year. So, what are some of my favourites?
“Christmas Movie Watching” Sweatshirt
I admit, I finally broke down and purchased one of these. Given that I love Hallmark and made-for-tv Christmas movies at the best of times, and that we will most likely be under strict lockdown for November and December this year, I had to. You can buy many variations of this sweatshirt- the one I’ve linked is the shop that I purchased from myself. I don’t know that I will wear it to watch every holiday movie this year, but expect to see it quite often on my Instagram stories. I would recommend getting a good quality sweatshirt. This one is a Gildan sweatshirt, and it is incredibly warm and soft! And you will be supporting a small business, which is never a bad thing.

And yes, I also bought the socks that go with this sweatshirt! (I won an Amazon giftcard, it seemed a fun way to use it.) I love festive socks, so I enjoy these a lot. I don’t know that I will ever be sitting to properly display them with my feet up but I will know that they are there haha. My one recommendation is to make sure you aren’t just blindly buying the items. You can get Hallmark/Christmas movie sweatshirts, t-shirts, sweatpants, socks, scarves, blankets, mugs, and more- it can be easy to overload on it and buy everything. (If you really are going to use everything year round, it may be worth it to purchase it, but if you only use it for a short window, you probably don’t need everything…)
Christmas Crown/ Headband
Another small business item! ClosestToCrowns is one of my favourite small businesses, and I love everything that Alexandra makes. And yes, you are remembering correctly- I am an ambassador for ClosestToCrowns! This is a custom-made crown/headband, and I am glad that I finally got one. This is absolutely for specific holiday events- even with all of my spirit, I am not wearing this on a daily basis out. However, for holiday parties, movie nights, and of course, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I will certainly wear this! There are very few occasions in life where you can wear fun accessories, and I will take advantage of it. One thing to remember: small business owners often need a bit of time to make and ship out your order. They often will have another full or part-time job, as well as general life responsibilities. Allow them as much time as possible, to get your order right and sent out!
If you don’t already have your Christmas pyjamas, I would recommend getting yours now, as they really are going quickly this year! (Is it a suprise, with the amount of lounging time we have on our hands?)
And of course, the ubiquitous Christmas sweater (or jumper, depending on where you are from)! I have more than enough and don’t need any more. However, if you are looking for one, there are probably going to be many mask-themed sweaters to choose from…
