In the best ways possible, this is the time of year where things change a bit on the blog. I wanted to do a quick update to let you know what you can expect on the blog for the rest of the year, and an exciting event I’ve got planned! The holiday season provides needed warmth and cheer every year, but we need it more than ever in 2020. Blogmas 2020 is set to be a wonderful end to the year for me, and I hope that you are excited, too!
While I am pretty much in full Christmas mode myself, the blog isn’t there yet. If you like to wait until closer to the holidays, don’t worry- normal posts are continuing on as normal. Here is what you can expect to see in the next few months…
The Nutcracker: A Holiday Constant Talk
I am very excited to share that I will be doing a talk on the history and popularity of The Nutcracker ballet, and anyone can attend (for free!). It will be on Saturday 28 November 2020, at 12:00pm CST. (That is 1:00pm EST and 6:00pm GMT.) The Nutcracker is an important piece in the puzzle of holiday history for many of us, and as a dancer, I’ve always been fascinated by it. You don’t need to know anything in particular to listen and enjoy, so don’t worry about having seen it or knowing the history behind it. I’m going to be giving the talk on Zoom- it gives me a bit more flexibility in sharing my screen and interacting for questions. It is completely free, so feel free to share it with anyone you think may be interested. If you are planning on attending, you will need to add your email address to my Google Form so that I can send the meeting link and password! (I will not use your email for anything else, and you are not subscribed to anything by filling out the form. It is only for sending you the link for the talk.) I know that most of us will not be able to see The Nutcracker performed live this year, so I hope this can give you a bit of your tradition.
Blogmas 2020
If you are new to the blog, Blogmas is a blogging event where people post daily in the month of December. (Or Vlogmas, if they are video folks.) I will be starting it a touch early on Friday 27 November, with daily posts until 31 December! Not all posts will be holiday themed, either- you can expect some regular posts, as well. There will be holiday history bites, favourite recipes, holiday culture, and more! If you want to find the posts together, just head to the Blogmas 2020 feed, or click the “Blogmas 2020” tag at the bottom of any post. Come to the new year, I will be back to my regular posting schedule, but for Blogmas, it is daily posts! If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably seen the holidays sneaking in. However, you will see a lot more of it come the start of Blogmas! You will notice on Twitter that I usually tweet about different Hallmark Christmas movies- it’s not a minute by minute update, but I usually post my thoughts. I also will be sharing my older Blogmas posts there, if you want to enjoy some of the topics that I’ve explored in previous years. I do completely understand that some people aren’t massive fans of the holidays, or wait until much closer to start celebrating. If that’s you, I’m not offended if you unfollow or mute me!
