By now, you know that I looooove huskies! They are cute and sweet and mischievous and adorable and smart, and Loki is the best dog in the world! Buuuut, my other favourite dog is the Westie, aka. the West Highland White Terrier. My first meeting with a real westie was Daisy, M’s perfect little Westie! (She is the cutie in all of these pictures 🙂 ) What do I love about Westies, you ask?
1. They have tiny beardies. I cannot exaggerate this enough- THEY HAVE TINY BEARDIES. It is adorable. They are the wise old men of the dog world (the old man who can sprint past you).
2. They have attitude. They are sassy, and they do what they want! A Westie won’t always listen to you, I love that they have a mind of their own. I don’t want a pushover, I want a dog who has some spitfire!
3. They are tiiiiny angels. No matter what. Even if they pee on something, ANGELS I TELL YOU. Loooook at this face:
4. They are active! They are always described as hardy and sturdy, and it is a good description. They are ratters, meaning that they instinctively will seek out and kill vermin. A Westie is the only dog who can be picked up by their tail! If they are stuck in a hole trying to get a rat, their bark is high-pitched enough to hear, their ribcage collapses to get out of the hole, and their tail muscles are shaped to allow you to pull them out. They are made for adventures and action!!
5. They love you! Daisy absolutely adores M, and he usually has a tiny white shadow around the house. It’s a perfect match!!
Hopefully M and I will have more Westies soon!!
Until tomorrow,
The Historian!

I agree with – except for the “angel” part. 😉 Jacques is stubborn & dense at times but he is also sweet, loving, & a real clown. Westies are definitely something special!! Your Westie is adorable!
