I normally have a lot of thoughts, possibly a weird amount of thoughts. It’s rather like my brain is permanently stuck in Gilmore Girls mode. It’s probably why I can’t sleep ever, my brain is always like “Nope, you are staying awake, you need to think about where you put your green sweater in your closet.” However, I seem to have even more thoughts when I am in airports. I don’t know why, but they multiply.
Sure, I might be in Lulu leggings, an Alpha Gam hoodie, and moccasins, but at least I am comfortable.
Okay, I know, I know- you have a slight chance of being upgraded and it helps if you are dressed nicely. However, I am not going to wear a dress to fly in on the off-chance they might upgrade me. I am simply not that committed, and quite frankly, I freeze as it is. My clothes are all clean, and I have nothing showing that I shouldn’t. (Win column.) To the people flying in rubber boots: yes, you are taking the heaviest/bulkiest item out of your suitcase but now you are tromping around the airport with an extra 5 lbs on your feet.

Why are people so weird about ordering Starbucks at the airport?
I just watched four people ask if they had “X drink or just coffee”? I get that some airports have kiosks, but this is clearly a full Starbucks with the complete menu posted. They aren’t posting that menu board to screw with you, order your super skinny-soy-mocha-lattechino or whatever your deal is and keep the line moving.
How come I can get a pretzel bagel at Tim Hortons in the airport but not at work??
This was a pleasant surprise. Pretzel bagels are the best kind of bagels, and currently the only kind I will eat.
I bought four books yesterday on the Kobo Boxing Day sale, but now seems like a good time to buy more.
I found four books on for less than half the price yesterday on Kobo, but I want to look for mooooore. Oooh, two books I’ve been considering for months that I didn’t notice yesterday!! Hmm, I wonder if Canadian planes will finally let you read your e-reader during take-off and landing. Well, if not, I did buy the yearly special of Hello to keep myself distracted by the Duchess of Cambridge.
Speaking of the Duchess of Cambridge, she was on point on Christmas Day. Why don’t I live somewhere that it is acceptable to wear hats? I’m making that a thing, I already have 3 fascinators.
I don’t think there is a colour that she cannot pull off, but green works particularly well for her. I’m not always a fan of the teardrop style, but it is redeemed by the flower detailing in the back. Also, I wonder if I could get suede boots. Probably not the best idea, given that I live somewhere that has snow 6 months of the year, and go to Seattle (the land of rain) fairly often. Ah, well.

Do you have any airport thoughts?? Any pre-flight rituals??
Until tomorrow,
The Historian!
