Back to the old classic format- three of my favourite items, brought right to you! Being that I’m in Fernie, British Columbia right now (see picture right below), I decided to share my favourite items for a trip to the Rockies. It’s absolutely gorgeous here, and while there is a lot of snow happening, it is about 15ºC warmer than Winnipeg- I’m taking advantage of the warm weather and enjoying getting out and about. The wind can get a little chilly, so it’s all about layering. Classic Canadian apparel, here we go!
Handmade Mukluks
These were made locally here in Manitoba, and are beautiful in person. They are the perfect balance of warmth and stylish, and always stand out. The light grey and purple beading are a great combo, and go with everything I own! (I don’t own a ton of purple but it’s so little that it is a nice accent.) It is also just wonderful to be able to support local businesses. If you are interested in the history of mukluks, I would recommend checking this site out!
Cotton Shirt in Red Checked Plaid, H&M
This is an H&M shirt that I actually picked up while I was in Seattle. It was under $20 and is part of their conscious fashion line. It is quite loose fitting, which I prefer in my flannel shirts! I find that it is on the casual side (not always perfect for work) but for a vacation in a mountain town, it literally could not be more perfect. If it is a colder day, I will typically go with a cardigan and sweater for layering- worse comes to worse, I take the cardigan off. The thin cotton allows for maximum breath-ability, what you need for travel!
Sea-to-Sky Sweater, TNA
If you have been to Canada sometimes between fall and spring, you have probably seen quite a few of these sweaters around. You can get them in light grey, dark grey, black, and brown (or could at one point). At $85 CAD plus taxes, it is a fairly good deal for a Cowichan style sweater, and they are incredibly durable. It’s warm and I take it on every single trip I go on, summer or winter- I get cold, and this is always going to keep me warm. I do love them- warm AND comfortable and not Uggs!! I would have worn Uggs forever, these are more grown up (I think…)

I love those boots!!! And I agree, the grey accented with pale purple looks splendid. I used to wear a pair of Uggs, but they literally wore out. Now I don’t have any cold weather boots, but they’re not terribly necessary here!
