Today marks exactly two months from King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey. On 6 May, they will be gathering with 2-3,000 people to carry out a centuries-old tradition. We’ve had a steady stream of updates, including musical changes and a new emblem. I wanted to find a way that people could participate in their own way, no matter where they live. I have decided to host a reading challenge over the next two months in the lead-up to the Coronation. Anyone can take part in the An Historian About Town Royal Reading Challenge, and have a chance to win a copy of The Little Princesses, one of my favourite royal books!

What: 5 books
Prize: A copy of The Little Princesses by Marion Crawford (will be mailed directly to winner from Book Depository)
This challenge will take place from 6 March to 6 May 2023! Anyone can take part in this challenge- the challenge is to read 5 royal-themed books over the next two months. There are 3 different topics/themes that I’ve set:
-1 book must be historical fiction
-1 book must be non-fiction
-1 book must be centred around non-UK/British Isles royals
One book can fulfil more than one topic; for example, if you read a biography of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, that fulfils both the non-fiction and non-UK themes! However, you do need to read five separate books over the next two months. You can read physical books, ebooks, or listen to audiobooks- all formats are welcome!
