My first Ornament of the Day post this year! What would Blogmas be without Ornament of the Day posts? I know that many people like to have coordinating ornament sets. However, I like to collect my ornaments throughout the year, and on my travels- each ornament has a story behind it. Every Tuesday and Thursday I will share a different ornament and the story behind it. Today’s ornament shouldn’t be any surprise to anyone who knows me… This London guard ornament perfectly guards my Christmas tree (along with several royal ornaments)!
London Guard Ornament
Is there anything more quintessentially “London” than the guards that stand outside Buckingham Palace? The red coat and bear skin cap is a striking image anywhere, and particularly so on a tree. And as it so happens, he is the perfect guard for my Young Victoria ornament that I found in Bath. These padded ornaments are my favourite, for a few reasons. They can be safely be transported in a suitcase or in the mail, and you don’t have to worry about them breaking. And they can go pretty much anywhere on the tree, as it doesn’t particularly matter if they fall. (Though I do put them below the royals they serve on the tree…)
