Music Monday- Five Songs to Help You Relax

We are firmly entrenched in fall, and dare I say, moving closer to winter?? (I love winter, so I’m saying it.) Now that 85th is over, I finally have a little bit of time in the evenings again to sit and read with a cuppa. Obviously, music can be an important factor in relaxing; these are my top five songs to help you relax!

1. Can’t Sleep Love– Pentatonix

A song made for grooving while relaxing if there ever was one. I’m fairly certain that everyone has heard of Pentatonix, but this is one of their original songs and I’m impressed! This is a “listen-on-repeat-for-hours-while-doing-anything” song, 100%. Also, there’s a Pentatonix documentary that is currently on Netflix that is worth a watch.

2. Love is Christmas– Sara Bareilles

I know I said that this playlist is for this “before-the-holidays” season we find ourselves in, but I find the simplicity of Sara and the piano- and nothing else- to be incredibly calming. She has such a strong and steady voice, and the lyrics are beautiful and heartfelt as well.

3. Stardust– Michael Bublé ft. Naturally 7

This song could legitimately make me fall asleep and has before. If I could only listen to one artist, it would be Michael Bublé. He has a wonderful voice (especially given the fact that he has no training), he is super entertaining, and he is Canadian. He’s slowly making up for Celine Dion. Listen to this while you are having a quiet evening in on the couch.

4. Swan in the Water– Justin Nozuka

I first discovered this song in the summer of 2009, and I used it in a few dance pieces, and I am still listening to it now. It builds wonderfully and wraps itself around you, which can be a difficult thing to achieve. Definitely a recommended listen when you have had a long day at work but still need to get stuff done.

5. All the Way– Celine Dion and Frank Sinatra

I know that I said that we have to make up for Celine Dion about 150 words ago, but this duet between Celine Dion and Frank Sinatra is perfect if you need to unwind when you come home from work. Plus, Frank Sinatra is a classic!

Also, just putting this out there- Gregorian chanting is hella relaxing.

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!
