History in the Making

DIY- Dublin Letterblock

This is my first DIY project for the blog (and me)! I decided to go with something I am familiar with- acrylic paint! Dublin is an amazing city, and I was lucky enough to live there for a year. I decided to make a little tribute to my other home!

I bought this block from Michaels, the D was already cut into it. It was $5, so not too expensive! I don’t have a picture of the second step, but I also primed it.

After priming it, I applied two coats of Shamrock Green. The cut out is a rough surface, so it required more paint to soak in.

The next step was Metallic Green paint- I wanted it to look a little different!

I found an online image of the Dublin skyline and traced it onto the block. I used a 4B pencil, it transfers well! I outlined it with a fine brush, and then used a wider brush to finish filling in the black. I decided to paint the skyline on the side to give it a little dimension!

Let me know what you think of it!

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!
