Streamed performances for ballet, theatre, and musicals seem to be dwindling now that we are further into the summer. (I know that lockdown has eased in many places, but very few have eased to the point of allowing live theatre performances…) I’ve been lucky enough to keep myself busy with a large collection of Royal Ballet performances, Hamilton, and a few other things. However, I know that not everyone has access to the same things. So, I am going to be doing a ballet history chat on Instagram Live for anyone to watch and enjoy some culture again!
I think that any regular readers here will know that I love ballet. I have danced my entire life, and I am currently researching ballet history (hopefully to do a PhD in the not-too-distant future). It does seem very niche, but something that I love about ballet is that so many people have either danced themselves at some point in their lives, or have gone to the ballet. (The Nutcracker, anyone??)

I will be chatting all things odd and interesting about the history of ballet. Things you wouldn’t know, things you wouldn’t expect, the extraordinary of ballet! You don’t need to know anything about the history of ballet to enjoy it, and it will only be 15 minutes- I will leave some time for questions afterwards, though. I’m also hoping that I will be able to save it to my IGTV after.
