Hello and welcome to the new An Historian About Town! Over the last three and a half years, this blog has truly grown into something significant for me. Not only have I developed writing, editing, photography, media, and marketing skills, a wonderful and supportive community has also grown out of it, and I’m excited to move into this next phase! I’m here to be a resource, a sounding board, a recommend-er, and anything else you need. Without further adieu, the An Historian About Town official relaunch!
After completing my undergraduate and graduate degrees in history, I’ve settled into a quiet but refined life full of the things I love. I am the person who has taken etiquette classes, and the person who will do hours and hours of research on a coat to ensure that it does everything I need, and the person who will try six different sugar cookie recipes to find the perfect one.
I believe that refining and polishing the life that you have doesn’t have to be an enormous and overwhelming task that leaves you unrecognisable, but rather is a continual and gradual process that takes many forms over the years.
I believe that elegance can and should be found everywhere, and doesn’t have to be a formal and rigid set of behaviours. Elegance can be a casual gracefulness that isn’t perfect and practiced.
I believe that education isn’t necessarily a formal degree, and that we are all meant to be life-long learners. Sometimes education comes in the form of a class, sometimes education comes in the form of a book, sometimes education comes in the form of a simple conversation.
I believe that we are all well-rounded people with passions, interests, hobbies, and skills- not one of us is devoted to one single part of our life! We spend time with friends and family, we work at whatever our career is, we learn and grow, and we relax and unwind.
I am here to help you make those small and straightforward changes to help you love the life that you have, by sharing my own experiences and history with you. I will be sharing my advice, tips, and thoughts on style, culture, and personal development to help you cultivate your own well-rounded life.
Although it may not seem like it, we are all making our own quiet history and it is up to each of us what history we leave behind- here is to celebrating being history in the making!
