I can’t say this enough times- I LOVE KENSINGTON PALACE. In case you weren’t sure, I love Kensington Palace. However, I have gone through KP three different times and all of the exhibits are still the same, so we weren’t going to go through again this time. Today was a park and Orangery day!
Our reservation at the Orangery was for 3, so we had a bit of time to explore the gardens beforehand! It is the first time that I have seen anything growing-previously it was too cold or too hot. This was our lucky day- it was GORGEOUS. If you are anywhere close to Kensington, it is worth stopping by!
While we were waiting, there was a very forward, and adorable, squirrel hoping to get treats! Unfortunately we had no treats for him, but I was able to get a quick snap!
Finally it was time to eat! The Orangery is absolutely beautiful- I wish I had more pictures of it! It was originally used for balls and parties by the Georgians and is now a restaurant. If you were wondering, yes- you can have your birthday there. They bring all of your food at once, as well as your tea! I had the Afternoon Tea, it was a lovely blend! There are quite a few tables and they were full but it wasn’t loud in the least. Other than the the mayonnaise and salmon sandwiches, the food was wonderful. It is debatable whether it is worth £26 plus tea per person, but I am so happy we were able to do it!
After tea, we stopped in the gift shop and I found something I have been looking for for quite some time! Behind Closed Doors is a study of the home in the Georgian period, and so far it is fascinating! Three years of looking paid off!
Until tomorrow,
The Historian!
