As evidenced by all of my book posts, reading is a big part of my life. I find it relaxing and exciting and allows me to go on more adventures than any one person should have. I have decided after finally sitting up and paying attention to Goodreads to start using NetGalley!
NetGalley allows people to sign up to read soon-to-be releases and new releases in exchange for posting reviews. Because most books are available in ebook form now, it allows publishers to promote their works without putting out a lot of cash, and it is an easy medium for readers! I will hopefully be downloading my first book soon, and starting this whole thing! I used to work at a bookstore and publishers will send proofs of books for feedback. It is one of things that I miss most about working there, and now it won’t be a coverless proof.
I will be posting longer reviews for books on my blog in the near future! Not pages and pages, but a decent length, in order to hopefully provide people with more info to make their choices about what to read. In case you are worried, books from NetGalley will be clearly identified! I also don’t plan on exclusively reading books from NetGalley, so my book posts won’t change too terribly much 🙂
As I play around looking for books, I noticed when you select “Read Now” for a title, the site asks if it is the title/author/cover/description that draws you in. I would be interested to know if your answers will eventually affect the type of books that you are recommended/shown.
If anyone has used NetGalley, what has your experience been? Have you found books that you enjoy? Anything I should look out for?
