I am doing my level best to limit my new clothing purchases and limit my fast fashion purchases. Normally it isn’t overly difficult to do. However, I completely admit that I failed on my trip. In terms of everyday clothing, fast fashion isn’t usually your best bet. However, for souvenirs, it can be a great option because it is affordable and wearable. And now that stores like Primark are getting more licensing agreements, there are even more options. So, when it came to the Primark Harry Potter collection, I had to go and find it for myself.
Although I am a big fan of dressing appropriately for work, and I’m not a fan of hyper-casual work wardrobes, I’m more than happy to dress casually at home. I know that I don’t share a lot of those pieces, so I thought today would be a good look at some new additions to my casual wardrobe!
From everything I’ve read online and seen on social media, the Primark Harry Potter collection is permanent now, they just keep switching out different items. So the Ravenclaw backpack that was there last month may not be there now, but there is a Slytherin hat instead. In my opinion, a lot of them are rather costume-y, with big crests and whatnot on them. And for some reason, a lot of it seems to be house-ware items. If you lived in the UK, I could see it being a fun way to decorate your space. As someone who was going to have bring it back in an already overflowing suitcase, that wasn’t really an option…
However, I finally found some Harry Potter items I liked at the Primark in Cambridge! I shouldn’t have been surprised, a university town is always a mecca for Primark… Given that much of Cambridge looks like it could be Hogwarts itself, I think that it is rather fitting. What did surprise me that the Primarks I stopped by in Bath and London had surprisingly little of the collection- I feel like it would be popular everywhere!
Marauder’s Map T-Shirt
There wasn’t many house-themed clothing items when I was looking, so everything I purchased was just Harry Potter in general, rather than specifically Ravenclaw. (Yes, I am a Ravenclaw, and I am Ravenclawesome.) This Maraurder’s Map t-shirt is super casual, but I love it. A lot of the items when I was shopping in February were Marauder themed- my favourite book is Prisoner of Azkaban, so I was all for it. This t-shirt was only £5, which is amazing considering how much I paid for merchandise at the Harry Potter studio tour. It is a loose fitting t-shirt, quite soft, and the speckled design makes it even more relaxed. And quite frankly, I’m a giant nerd, and I love that the formal “Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs are proud to present” was included. I’m not sure how licensing agreements work exactly, I don’t know if Warner Brothers gets to create the design or Primark. In either case, it turned out well. I have to say, it doesn’t feel cheap in design or quality (not always true of Primark). Primark Harry Potter success number 1!
Mischief Managed Pyjamas
This style of Primark pyjamas is my favourite style in the world, and I’ve yet to find any that match them for comfort. Harry Potter print or otherwise, I would pay someone to mail me new pairs periodically. However, these are Harry Potter pyjamas, so much the better! This are also Marauder themed, and I whole-heartedly approve of the Marauder print on the pants. (If Primark wanted to make money, they would release bedding in this print. Maybe they have already, but if not, you’re welcome for the genius idea.) The shirt is quite similar to the t-shirt I got, although most of the upper details are replaced by the “Mischief Managed” bit. I’ve got to start ending my day by telling myself “Mischief Managed”, I feel like every day would feel more successful. Overall, these pyjamas aren’t too hot and they aren’t too cold. They also aren’t too big or too small. Essentially they are the Goldilocks of pyjamas with a Harry Potter theme, for £1o. Primark Harry Potter success number 2!
Hedwig Slippers
These were purely a last minute impulse purchase that was specifically placed by the cash registers. Originally £5, they were marked down to £2 when I was there, and I’m kicking myself that I didn’t buy a second pair. My feet are always cold, no matter what. However, I don’t always love wearing bulky slippers. These are moderately warm and are quite thin, way to go, Primark. I should also note here that I am a child, and the fact that my feet look like talking Hedwigs when I walk gets me every time I wear them. If you were hosting a Harry Potter themed marathon or party, these would make a great give-away. They also conveniently fold up and fit into most teeny spaces in your luggage, meaning that you could certainly bring them along when you travel. I think that these are one of the more creative items in the Primark Harry Potter collection, and they did a good job on these!

I was so impressed with the Disney lines when I lived in Dublin- compared to the actual items, they are so much more affordable!
