There are a few authors that I get incredibly excited to see a new book from, and Jaimie Admans is one of them. I adore all of her books, but her Christmas/winter books are my favourites- she can transport you to the holiday season like no other. And this year’s Christmas release is no exception. As the weather is getting colder, Hallmark holiday movies are popping up on our screens, and Advent calendars take over, The Post Box at the North Pole is the perfect book to get lost in! Why You Should Read This…
Jaimie’s books are always the perfect blend of Christmas and magic- just enough to make you believe in the spirit of the holidays again. The reindeer and and Santa and the elves, it is a Christmas cocktail to get you in the spirit. I think that the letters to Santa were one of the most touching and thoughtful parts of the book; here in Canada, you can send a letter to the North Pole (postal code HOH OHO) and receive a reply from Santa’s elves- I loved seeing that replicated here. (I am all for any tradition that shows a giving spirit.) She always effortlessly works in holiday traditions, and it makes for such a fun and warm read.
I loved Norway as a setting. As a Canadian who lives somewhere that is periodically colder than Mars, I get a kick out of people going to actually cold places (much like Tav!). Jaimie always stages her setting in so well, it is absolutely a main character- I could see the Northern Lights as I was reading. And the reindeer are some of the cutest supporting characters I’ve read in a Christmas book!
The Post Box at the North Pole is cozy, fun, and heartfelt, and it is the perfect book to welcome the holiday season with- get your hot chocolate and get ready to read. If you only read one Christmas book this year, it has to be Jaimie’s!
