I was finally able to do a Paint Nite!! I went with a group of my friends from work, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by it. I was unsure of how it would work, as they are all in lounges or bars. However, we were in our own area, and we were not distracted by what was going on in the other part of the lounge. Great music, a good teacher, and a lot of fun!
Everything is done step by step, so no painting experience is necessary. I would be very much interested to try one of the more difficult paintings, but this is a great place to start! I found that I had quite a bit of time where I wasn’t doing anything. I have a bad habit of continually fiddling with my painting and never leaving it alone, so I specifically tried to put my paint brush down.
You are given three brushes (Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear for us), the specific colours you need, a cup with water, and a paper towel for cleaning, in addition to the obvious canvas. The instructor gave great advice, and went very slowly (most people in the class had never painted). It isn’t paint by numbers, as some people thought- but I thought that the instructions allowed most people to follow the image fairly closed if they wished to.
I made a few alterations- I preferred a bluer purple, I wanted a different tree, and I firmly believe that that bird on the left side of the tree was fed up with everyone’s attitude and needed a break. Hey, it happens to all of us.
I would definitely love to do it again, I’m going to keep my eye out for one of the London paintings!!

This is brilliant. Your painting looks great. I really like the step by step photos. I really want to do this sort of session but unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be anything local.
