History in the Making

I found the dollar section at Target!

On our way back from Beta Beta’s IRD on the weekend, we were able to quickly stop at Target. I’ve never paid close attention when I’ve stopped at Target before, but there really is a small $1/$3/$5 section at the front!! And they actually have a great range of items!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect in the Target dollar section! (From my little research, I have learned that it is called “Bullseye’s Playground”, but that doesn’t sound as deal-y as Target dollar section, okay?) From all of the planner blogs I follow, it seems to be all stationary- which would be my dream. Unfortunately, it was not all stationary, but still a good range of things. A good half of it were small kid’s toys; if you were hosting a birthday party, it’s probably a cheap way to find items. I didn’t really look at that section at all, nor the tech section (Android users can rarely find cheap phone cases anywhere).

The remaining sections were stationary/home/hostess items! Paper straws, small plastic plates and wooden cutlery for picnics, chalkboard signs, mason jars, gift tags, picture frames, notepads, cards, and clipboards. Everything was cute and moderately priced! (Although, I have to say as someone who enjoys going all out when I hostess, it would get expensive to continually buy little burlap decorations and themed napkins. However, I may be biased as I hate the burlap trend….) There was only one roll of washi tape, plain black 🙁 I have been wanting to try washi tape for a while, but it will have to wait longer.

I was mostly there for the stationery- I found a lot of thank you cards (which I have plenty of, unfortunately), and a few regular cards! Pineapples and flamingos are certainly the trend for this summer- I have one set of 8 flamingo cards, and 4 of each of the pineapple designs. My Rosenotes for Alpha Gams will be on trend! I also got an “Important Things” notepad, because now that I have started making priority to-do lists, I can’t stop… (Hey, I’m getting things done!) My final purchase was a set of 3 folders (pineapples, pink gingham, and mint stripes)- I plan on punching holes in these and using them as dividers in my Alpha Gam binders.

Does anyone know if this section is available on the Target website?? Have you found any deals in the Target dollar section?

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!

  • As soon as I saw your post’s title in my reader, I chuckled to myself as I clicked on it. Ah, the Target dollar section claims another victim! (I had no idea it was called Bullseye’s Playground?!) This section has always been my downfall. I absolutely love it, but I always end up buying so much stuff I probably don’t need. Still, it’s cheap and it brightens my day, so I suppose there are worse things in this world. I mostly go there for the stationary, too (it’s so adorable!), though I also got some really decent headphones there once that have lasted me over a year now.

    • I am so upset that this section isn’t online on the Target website!! Now that I have seen it in person, I need more!! However, Michaels has a similar section here- I guess I will have to stick with that :/ I now understand how people spend $40 immediately upon walking into Target…
