And the reading finally slows down!

Finally, my reading pace has slowed down. Not because I don’t want to read, but because I’ve just been weirdly busy lately. Between ballet two days a week, a few different barbecues, and a fairly sizeable social event all in the span of a few weeks has left me with not as much time to read as I would like. I have a bunch of books from the library that I’ve had for a while that I am just going to return because they’ve just been sitting there for ages and not peaking my interest whatsoever. So, what books have I read since my last recap? 

Only 3! And nothing too heavy. Although I do love me some classic literature, I tend to stick with light and fluffy in the summer. I fall into the same trap that every other adult does in the summer- I think I have more free time than I do (because a lot of stuff pauses for the summer) and then I schedule sooooo many things. Still, I have enjoyed what I’ve been reading as of late!

I Regret Nothing, Jen Lancaster

I finally got caught up on Jen’s books! I Regret Nothing documents Jen’s attempts to check off all of the items on her bucketlist. It didn’t have quite the same laugh out loud quality that some of her other memoirs but it is still entertaining. She focuses on some items on her list more than others, like her trip to Italy. I think that anyone who has even remotely considered making a bucket list should read this memoir, 4/5 stars!

The Wish List, Jane Costello

I LOVED The Wish List. I didn’t realise it until I went to write this post, but this is also about a bucket list! Emma and her three friends made a bucket list as teenagers to complete before the age of 30, and Emma is coming up upon that very birthday. Some are for fun (like sky diving) and some are for serious (like finding the man she will marry). Like I’ve said before, English chick-lit is really at the top of the genre for me- there’s not too much sex, the characters are well-developed, and I couldn’t put it down. There is just the right amount of sweetness without crossing over into Amish romance territory, or what I assume Amish romance territory would be… I would recommend this for anyone who  likes chick lit, or is even considering it! 5/5 stars, without a doubt!

Grace’s Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be a Grown Up, Grace Helbig

I recently got into Grace’s YouTube channel because I started listening to her podcast on the recommendation of my new co-worker. (Yes, that could be more long winded.) While this isn’t going to really provide too much actual guidance, but it does give you insight into Grace’s mindsight, and it will make you laugh! Also, I think that her worksheets and check ins are actually wonderful reminders. If you listen to Not Too Deep (her podcast) or follow her YouTube channel, you will enjoy this! 4.5/5 stars!

That’s right, I passed the $500 mark! And in less than a year. Even removing the cost of the card itself, I’ve still saved over $350.00! If that’s not impressive for a book nerd, I don’t know what is.
