For my newer readers that don’t know, I wholeheartedly love all animals! My brother’s husky Loki, my boyfriend’s Westie Daisy, and the rabbits I volunteer with at the Humane Society every week go a long way in keeping me happy and grounded.
I challenge you to find a more loving companion than a pet. They will keep you on your toes, they will provide you with endless entertainment, and they will love you with all of their hearts. I lo ve volunteering at the Humane Society as a Rabbit Wrangler- after a long day at work, spending a few hours playing with rabbits is a lovely way to end the day. Our Humane Society in Winnipeg is a fantastic organization. They do a lot of good in the community, and I am still excited to be a part of it! There are over 800 volunteers, and we can always use more. If you are interested in animals, I recommend contacting local shelters and rescues in your area! I’m sure that the staff/olunteers AND animals will be more than appreciative!
This is Roose Bolton! In case you were like, that guy pretty much owns the Iron Islands and is not an overly nice fellow, don’t worry. Rabbit Roose Bolton is really just interested in cuddles!
Kelly might look unimpressed, but he really does love scratches and pets! His resting-bun-face is just a front to draw you in!
Ahhhhh. Now we have McBunny of the majestic floof! Lionheads are terrifically soft, and just like snuggles. Find some of your own floof at your humane society!!
And then the pups! Where would I be without dogs??
Loki hung out with me for a few minutes before my root canal. He thought I was a baby, but I was like, Loki, they don’t give me treats for these things!!
Thorn, Sam, and Loki all know exactly how to get the treats. Paws up, everybody! Now to get them to do synchronized spinning…
Sometimes Loki just likes to know you are there 🙂
And no animal post would be complete with a little Daisy love!! Daisy loves her new Lambiekins, so much so that she loved a whole in his cheest and harvested much of the stuffing. Westitude, indeed!
On a serious note, for those who don’t know, wild fires have ravaged the city of Fort McMurray. It breaks my heart to know that some people had to leave their pets behind because they were at work or away from home when they were evacuated. (I cried at work, and still struggle to read about it.) Please make sure that you have an emergency plan for your pet- that there is someone close by who can get them if you need. I work about 15 minutes away from my brother’s house- I would leave everything and rush to Loki immediately, no questions asked. If you have anything to spare, please donate to the Fort McMurray SPCA here! The Edmonton Humane Society and Calgary Humane Society have taken in many animals, and are collecting donations for Fort Mac, as well.

Beautiful rabbits. It’s awful to think of the animals that can’t escape.
It breaks my heart, nothing gets to me more than animals 🙁 But knowing that we have a plan makes me feel better!!

Loved this post! I love animals and really enjoyed these adorable pictures! And I appreciated your sobering reminder. I have an emergency bag for my dogs along with one for myself, but I hadn’t thought what would happen if we had to evacuate and I wasn’t home. Good thing to plan for. Thank you for that important message.
It’s one of those things that you don’t want to think about because of how awful the situation would be, but you would be thankful that you have!!
