This week my recipe of choice from my summer of recipes was a raspberry pear crumble! I spotted the recipe on the Canadian Living website, and I knew that my parents would love it. Both of them love pears and raspberries, and the recipe didn’t seem to be too difficult or involved, a no-brainer choice if you will. I’ve not made many crumbles or crisps; my dad makes apple crisp fairly often so I try to branch out in what I make. However, it was time…
Raspberry Pear Crumble is a basic crumble recipe that is a little different than apple crisp! I was intrigued by the two different fruits working together, as well as how simple it really is. When I’ve attempted to make pie in the past, the recipe has always been a little complicated and required numerous ingredients, and doesn’t allow for a lot of wiggle room. This recipe DOES!

Recipe
Ingredients
-4 cups sliced peeled pear
-2 cups frozen raspberries
-1/3 cup packed brown sugar
-2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Topping
-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
-3/4 cups packed brown sugar
-3/4 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
-1/3 cup butter melted
Directions
1.In large bowl, gently toss together pears, raspberries, brown sugar, flour and nutmeg.
2. Spread in 8-inch (2 L) square glass baking dish.
3. In separate bowl, stir together flour, brown sugar and rolled oats. Drizzle with butter; stir until crumbly. Sprinkle over fruit.
4. Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven until golden and bubbly and fruit is tender, 45 to 60 minutes.
Changes That I Would Make
-I would probably use 1 1/2- 1 3/4 cups of raspberries instead of the full 2 cups- you certainly tasted the raspberry more than the pear, so I would be interested to taste it with a bit more of the pear taste coming out.
– I love the crumble part of the crumble, I would probably increase the amount of topping!
-I served this with ice cream, it certainly added to the taste!
The most labour intensive part of this recipe is peeling the four pears, and that still didn’t take too long. I was very impressed with how quick this was to assemble. If anyone is looking to try making a crumble, I would recommend starting with this recipe!
