My Favourite Holiday Books

From many of my blog interactions via comments, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, I think that many of you enjoy reading as much as I do. While I love watching holiday movies, I think I love curling up with a good holiday book even more- there is nothing like putting on comfy pyjamas, sitting in front of the fire with a good cup of tea, and getting lost in the pages for a few hours! Today I’m sharing my favourite holiday books for you to escape for a little bit and get wrapped up in (holiday pun INTENDED), there are both fiction and non-fiction options!

#24daysoftea (aka David’s Tea Advent Calendar)

I love Advent calendars. Even though I’m not particularly religious, they are one of my favourite parts of the holidays! Countdowns make everything more excited, and when you factor in that each day of the countdown means that you receive a tiny gift, it’s the best possible scenario here. Nowadays you can find chocolate Advent calendars, sock Advent calendars (if I was in the US, I would have that Harry Potter sock calendar from Target ASAP), beauty Advent calendars, short story Advent calendars, and everything in between. Well, obviously I was going to choose a tea related calendar- the David’s Tea Advent Calendar!

Ornament of the Day, #1

From now until Christmas, I will be sharing my favourite ornaments and their stories every Tuesday and Saturday! I collect ornaments of all kinds- our tree is not a cohesive set of ornaments, bought to be one picture but rather a mish-mash of ornaments that are all over the place but each tell their own story. The ornaments that I will be sharing are ornaments that have a unique story or a special meaning to me, and I hope that you enjoy them!

Pictures With Santa Paws

If you have a dog or a cat or a rabbit or even a pet rock, you probably like including them in the different areas of your life, and the holidays are no exception! I will admit to spending more than I probably should on Loki and Thor, but I can’t say no to those husky faces. So, of course we had to take them for Santa pictures! I won’t lie, I don’t really have any tips for coraling your pets because the wonderful people at Pet Valu keep them entertained, treated, and happy, but the hilarity and chaos of these three characters is the perfect mid-week pick-me-up!

DIY Harry Potter Christmas- Ravenclaw Style, Make It Monday

My office really embraces decorating for the holiday season, and clearly I am just about as gung-ho as it gets. Last year I went with a Whoville/Grinch Who Stole Christmas theme, which was a ton of fun! This year I decided to go with a Harry Potter Christmas theme, specifically Ravenclaw (because I’m Ravenclawesome) and although it took a fair bit of creativity, I’m pretty proud of the whole set up. I will post an “after” picture in the next few weeks after it is all up at work, but I’m going to share the individual elements today for you. The goal was the keep the set up under $50 CAD and be as easy as possible, and I met that goal! Anyone can duplicate this set-up (and make it to your House) with a little effort.

Christmas Travel List, Travel Thursday

Normally I try to focus on places I have been (or will be going shortly) for my Travel Thursday posts; however, this one is going to be slightly different! I like to be at home with friends and family for the holiday season, and enjoying our snowy traditions. (Definitely going to have to go up into the mountains when I’m in Seattle…) However, there are some holiday destinations that I would love to see and will probably pick away at these over the years. This is my dream Christmas travel list that I will one day be able to complete!

The Shoebox Project… My Favourite Time of the Year!

My favourite time of the year is the holiday season, mostly because I think that it is a warm and cozy time of year that rejuvenates all of us in some way or another. However, there are many people who might not have a support system or family of any sort there for them. I think that the number one most important aspect of the holidays is giving back and paying it forward, and The Shoebox Project is a fantastic way to do that. Women in need are often left in the shadows, and this is the perfect way to reach out and help!
