While I shared my thoughts on the Platinum Jubilee celebrations yesterday, I wanted to share my Platinum Jubilee collectibles today to wrap up. (And yes after that, I promise that the blog returns to proceedings as normal after this!) You might think that I bought nine million things, but I actually think I did a pretty good job of controlling myself. I am going to link the items wherever possible (no affiliates), so that you can purchase if you would like. Let’s look at my Platinum Jubilee collectibles!
If you are interested in ordering/buying anything Jubilee related, I would recommend ordering it as soon as you see it. A lot of things are selling out incredibly quickly, and most sites are not restocking.
Jubilee Queen Placement Mug & Jubilee Ditsy Side Plate, Cath Kidston
Unfortunately these are both sold out, and Cath Kidston has said they aren’t restocking.* They released two different designs, one featuring a portrait of Her Majesty, and one of a regal corgi. I wanted both, and decided to get the portrait mug and the corgi plate. They are great quality, and look fantastic. I suspect that some will show up on eBay in the coming while, but possibly for a much higher price.
*Cath Kidston has taken a bizarre route, and only released part of the collection. There should be a dress, pajamas, and a few handbags (and possibly more) released at some point during the year. On social media, they’ve only said “later in the year”. I don’t know why on earth you would release it after the Jubilee celebrations end, because a lot of people will be done with it, but keep an eye out and buy it immediately if you want it.
Platinum Jubilee Emblem Bookmark, RCT*
I am a big fan of usable items instead of things to display. And obviously I am a bit of a reader, so a bookmark seemed to be the clear choice. I actually prefer this thin, leather style, as it fits nicely in books and doesn’t distort the spine or leave any creases/marks on pages. Given that I collect bookmarks when I travel, this fits nicely into my collection.
The bookmark features the official Platinum Jubilee emblem and like the rest of this collection, it is in purple. At £3, it is also a very affordable Platinum Jubilee souvenir! (I actually bought two…)
Platinum Jubilee Emblem Keyring, RCT*
Another piece from the emblem collection, the keyring/ keychain is also very nice. As an adult, I seem to have no shortage of keys, so I’m happy to have another keychain. And yes, I also collect keychains when I travel! This piece is also £5, so again, quite affordable. (A lot of Jubilee items in general tend to be heinously expensive.
Fortnum’s Platinum Jubilee Blend, Loose Leaf Tea Caddy
I have to say, I knew if I got nothing else this Jubilee, I needed to get the Fortnum’s blend. I have the 2011 wedding blend, the 2012 (Diamond) Jubilee blend, and the 2013 christening blend, it had to join the collection! It is the cheapest at £16.50, but you do get 250g of tea (over 100 cups) and a beautiful caddy to keep.
I think that the Fortnum Platinum Jubilee is gorgeous. According to their site, “Our limited-edition Platinum Jubilee Collection features an exclusive crown design, inspired by the passions and pursuits that have defined Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s historic 70-year reign — from racing pigeons and champion horses to the lily of the valley that graced her wedding day bouquet.”
Platinum Corgi Jubilee Decoration, RCT*
Obviously I couldn’t not get an ornament for my Christmas tree. While all of the ornaments (aka decorations) are very nice, I went with the corgis because of how cute it is. This ornament is smaller than I thought it would be, but it is excellent quality and still a good size. (My mom got the Crown ornament, and it is much larger.) At £25, this is definitely a more expensive piece, but I am excited to add it to my royal Christmas tree.
Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Elizabeth II Stamps, Canada Post
These stamps may be a smaller memento, but they are one of my favourites. The Machin portrait is so iconic, and has been used on countless stamps (and currencies) around the world throughout The Queen’s reign. I have to say, I might start to start collecting royal stamps (and channel my inner George V….).
Things On The Way…
I will be doing another RCT Shop order- I am waiting for some of the Machin collection items to come into stock, and I will also be getting the Jubilee programme (if still in stock). It is £25 shipping to Canada, so doing two orders is my limit.
I’ve also got a Canadian Jubilee pin on the way from the Monarchist League of Canada. (The Canadian government had them made but passed them off to the League to distribute.) I will come back and add to the post when more arrive!
*As of Sunday, 5 June, the Royal Collection Trust Shop has a note stating that it may take 28 days to ship due to a high volume of orders. I would still put your order in, but just know, it will take a while to get to you.
