And it is time for my final Ornament of the Day post of 2019! I don’t know where December has gone, but I’ve loved sharing my favourite ornaments with you. Some of my ornaments are from my travels, some are about history, and my other passions. This ornament is from one of my favourite Christmas traditions, though. And, it actually marks two different anniversaries! This is my newest ornament, my RWB Nutcracker ornament.
Every year, I go to see the RWB’s Nutcracker. Even though I know the story line like the back of my hand, and the costumes and sets are the same, I never fail to love it. The RWB’s production is lavish and rich and sweet, and there is truly something for everyone in it. Humour? Filbert the Bear is your man! Romance? Clara and the Nutcracker Prince are perfect? Pure entertainment? The Kingdom of Sweets is like a ballet variety show! They take great care in their Nutcracker, and it truly shows.
2019 marks two important RWB milestones. This year marks the company’s 80th anniversary, an impressive feat. (The longest continuously operating company in North America!) And this Nutcracker production is celebrating 20 years since debuting in 1999! There have been a few changes and tweaks here and there, but it is loved by Winnipeggers, including me. And they have released these ornaments to mark the occasions!
