Well, my car locked up/died twice this week, Winnipeg and surrounding area had our third blizzard in little over a month, and my eyeballs have frozen more times this week than any human should allow. When you tell people you are from Winnipeg, people inevitably will ask how you deal with the cold. Realistically? Enough layers of clothing to turn you into the Michelin man. However, I was lucky enough to receive a couple of cold weather accessories from my family that are helping stave off the impending doom, I mean, the frigid temperatures of winter. They are super cute and pretty easy to find!
Oversized Square Scarf, Lord and Taylor
My mom and I spotted this during Bay Days in the fall, and then put it away for Christmas! I love that it isn’t the same tan/red/blue/green plaid scarf that everyone else has- no one wants to grab someone else’s scarf. Also, as a pale-y, tan is not such a great colour for me… It is incredibly soft, and wonderfully warm. It keeps my face warm outside in our -40° and lower weather (-40 is the same in Celsius and Fahrenheit, in case you were wondering), and it works as a shawl inside when I’m chilled at the office. I love the square shape- I have to work at styling/wrapping it a little bit more, but it sets it apart a little bit. Lord and Taylor is a fantastic brand, and I can’t recommend it enough! I’ve linked a rectangular version, the square unfortunately isn’t available right now. If you are following me on Instagram, you will have noticed it in quite a few of my pictures!
Oversized Faux Fur Earmuffs in Grey, Indigo
These ear muffs are adorable and badass, and I couldn’t love them more. They are huge and I am a tiny person and they engulf my head and this is why I love them! They were originally $24.50 at Chapters and Indigo, and are on sale for $10. While retail stores now move into spring, it will be winter here for another 3-4 months and it is the time to pick up cheap cold weather accessories to make it through. They are soft and comfortable on your ears, and don’t leave you with a messy hat-head of hair to contend with. If you have a store nearby, I would certainly pick these up!
Northerners, what do you use to beat back the cold? And Southerners, are you literally basking in the sun right now??
