Chick Lit Tag, 2017

I’ve decided it is time- time for a chick lit tag to inspire us fans to share our favourite books, discover new authors, and share the chick lit love that is lacking in the book world! Many will pooh-pooh at chick lit and dismiss it as pure fluff that doesn’t deserve any time or attention away from a vacation on a beach, but those of us who know the genre understand that it’s often easy-going and light-hearted nature is exactly what draws us to it. This is meant to be a fun tag to share our favourites and see who else feels the chick lit love!

Chick Lit Tag

Rules
1. Answer the questions…
2. Link the books to Goodreads/Amazon/Chapters/Barnes and Noble, etc… when possible.
3. Be honest…
4. Tag some people who are fans of chick lit, or might become fans!
5. Have fun 🙂

Questions

1. First piece of chick lit that you read?
2. Best piece of chick lit that you have read?
3. Favourite chick lit author?
4. Most recent piece of chick lit that you have read?
5. Favourite chick lit trope?
6. Why do you think people should give chick lit a chance?

My Answers

1. First piece of chick lit that you read?
The Princess Diaries, Meg Cabot- Only 12 years old and I was hooked!

38980
2. Best piece of chick lit that you have read?
-Either The Runaway Princess or The Finishing Touches by Hester Browne

4338580
3. Favourite chick lit author?
-Ooooo, this is a tough one- I think right now it’s got to be Katie Fforde, Meg Cabot, or Hester Browne right now! (I’ve linked my favourite book from each 🙂 )

442959
4. Most recent piece of chick lit that you have read?
Boy Meets Girl, Meg Cabot- I discovered the fourth book in this series in the Seattle airport and loved it so much that I had to go back and read the other three!

5. Favourite chick lit trope?
-Someone finding out that either they or their new boyfriend/girlfriend is royalty. They may already know but haven’t told the other or it might miraculously have been a family secret. Either way, it’s great fun!!

6. Why do you think people should give chick lit a chance?
-I think that a lot of people discount chick lit for not being serious enough, but sometimes levity is what you need to counteract a stressful life! While these characters go through their fair share of curve balls and shenanigans, there’s usually a happy ending, and that can be a nice escape!

My Nominees

Just Another Day
Fatty McCupcakes
T.A. Henry
Mosaicca

What is your favourite book? And if I haven’t nominated you but you love chick lit, it’s only because I didn’t know!! Leave your name to be added and join the fun 🙂

Until tomorrow,

Ooh this is good 😀 Wonder how you knew I like chit like 😉

I’ve never read the Princess diaries but I’ve heard good things. Also I’ve never read Katie Fford but I’ve heard good things about her, and would love to read her books! Next time I’m in town I’m going to have a little browse as the WH Smith here has a clearance section so quite often you can get good deals on chick lit books 🙂

Chick lits are definitely under-rated though! I love them so much 😀 I’m so soppy! XD

I worked at a bookstore, and with my discount I could get clearance chicklit for $3.50 CAD per book, so I couldn’t say no!! Are they life changing?? No, but they certainly let me escape and entertained me for a bit 🙂
