Lindsey of the fantastic The Lindsey Vibe has very kindly nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award! Lindsey’s blog is bright and fun and will make you want to do more, no matter what it is you are doing. My favourite recent posts from Lindsey are the Jumbo Tassel Paper Clip, Freebie Friday (Sassy Edition), and Lilly Pulitzer Agendas! I’ll wait here while you go and read her blog… Now that you are back, we will get onto the meat of the post!
Here are the rules for this particular award:
– Thank the blogger who nominated you, and provide a link to their blog
– Write a blog post about the award
– Nominate 10-15 bloggers
– Answer: How your blog started, and provide two pieces of advice for new bloggers
How My Blog Started
It’s none too exciting, but I was going through my daily blog roll to read in January 2015 when I stopped to realise that I was reading a part of this blog, a part of that blog, and so on, but no one blog had everything I was looking for in one place! Especially inregards to the reader demographic- someone early on in their career, not a parent or a baker or a stylist or a retiree, but rather just a regular ol’ working person in a normal office job. Something i do like about most office jobs is that it leaves the rest of your time free to do what you would like- your evenings and weekends are yours! So, I set out to create a blog that most people could relate to, but more specifically, mid twenties to mid thirties women in their career.
Two Pieces of Advice for New Bloggers
-Be consistent! If you aren’t sure how often you can blog, maybe try one post a week or every two weeks to start. Nothing frustrates me more than people who go silent for six months or a year and then suddenly reappear like nothing happened. (In fact, I routinely go through my blogs followed list and clear out anyone who hasn’t posted in two months.)
-Keep your integrity! Though it may be very tempting to choose short cuts and easy fixes, don’t give into it. Sure, you could buy your followers or use a similar service for your social media accounts, but it’s fairly obvious when you suddenly shot up from 400 followers to 2500. Stay true and strong, and your readers will be there for you!
Thank you again to Lindsey, and I’m looking forward to hearing from everyone!
