For anyone who has been following this blog for a while, you will know that I’m really not awesome at the whole beauty/make up thing. I find it overwhelming, confusing, and quite frankly, just expensive. However, with a few gurus to lead the way, I’m slowly learning what products are a good investment and are good for my skin type and overall look. In the last few months, I’ve acquired a few new products that I’ve tested, and now love and recommend!
For anyone who is versed in Sephora at all, you will know that all Beauty Insider membes get a small gift bonus (no matter what your spend level is). This was part of the Tarte set this year! I went with the Tarte set because a lot of the reviews for the Caudalie set had said that the tubes had been mostly empty, and I’m not big on changing up on my skin care routine. I will be honest, I hated the Tarte Lip Paint that came with this- it looked quite brown on me, and was incredibly drying. However, I do like this blush! I know that people swear by Tarte’s blushes, and I can see why. I’m not sure that I will be switching from my Clinique blush, but I would recommend this to anyone looking for a long lasting, lighter blush. It’s a flattering colour on me, and it is a well made formula!
Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF15, bareMinerals
I’m not a fan of liquid foundations- they take a lot more skill and work to blend, and I quite frankly don’t have the energy to deal with it in the morning. I currently use Maybelline Dream Mouse Foundation, and more like cover-up than true foundation. I wanted a light foundation, and my friend Kayla recommended this powder foundation! I’ve used it a handful of times and while it takes a little bit of time to learn how to use, it’s really easy to use. My mistake was not using enough the first few times, but I would spend a few minutes playing around to see what works for you. It’s perfect for a light coverage with SPF that can be applied quickly. (Also, no drying time!)
Crayola Chubbystick in Tickle Me Pink, Clinique
My love of Clinique chubbysticks is documented across this blog- they are easy to use, not too much colour, and relatively moisturising for a coloured lip product. (I mostly use Lanolin on my lips now, it’s all natural and allows your lips to breath and produce its own moisture.) When I saw that Clinique had partnered with Crayola to create a new line of chubbysticks, I knew that I had to get one! I chose Tickle Me Pink, it’s a light, cool-toned pink that works really well for the spring and summer. Also, the packaging is just adorable. This is my (not so) new favourite lip product!
