So I finally swung by Winners in the south end of Winnipeg. For any non-Canadians reading this, Winners is essentially the same things as Marshalls and TJ/ TK Maxx- some designer brands, some regular brands, some never heard of brands at decent prices. I have found some fantastic pieces there in the past, and I decided it was finally time to visit once again. I find that the best approach when going to a store like Winners or Marshalls is to give yourself more than enough time to wander about and really give everything a good look.
Typically I’m on the hunt for Kate Spade items, particularly clothing, and this was no exception. Usually this particular location has a good selection of Kate Spade clothing items- it’s where I found my Kate Spade Mariella dress, Sommerset Cardigan, and nautical sweater! However, there was no Kate Spade clothing to be found this visit. (Or really of any designer. It was odd.) I was a little disappointed but I moved along to the rest of the store.
There was a good twenty five plus Kate Spade purses. The large majority were outlet pieces, so while $100 CAD for a purse is a good deal for Kate Spade, you do have to remember that it doesn’t necessarily have the same quality as a retail bag.
This unicorn carousel bag was only $100 (so $113 with taxes), and it is a lot of fun! If you do love to have a whimsical purse on your arm, something like this is the perfect option. Although it’s not a retail bag, it is still good quality, it’s a lot of fun to look at, and still holds a fair amount. (I personally love having fun and goofy coin purses that can be tucked away in a classic purse.)
I also spotted these Kate Spade flip flops! I personally hate flip flops (the noise drives me nutso, and I think that it’s too casual for anything other than a pool or the beach) but I do appreciate the bow detail and the stripes on the bottom. $30 CAD for designer flip flops seem to be a good price, as I’ve seen Michael Kors and Tory Burch versions go for for $60+ USD! Items like these are the best deals. So, onto things that I actually purchased…
The first item is small but I love it- a three pack of Kate Spade socks! I’ve already got five pairs of Kate Spade socks, and I love them. There are fun patterns, soft and thin material, and small details that make them stand out. I love these slip on socks for when I’m wearing my moccasins out or some of my ankle boots. It might sound silly, but I get a little boost knowing I’m wearing Kate Spade, even if it’s just a pair of socks! And the best part? Only $7 CAD!
And possibly one of my favourite Kate Spade Items of all time… my brand new Kate Spade apron for only $16.99 CAD! It’s a thin white linen apron with a beautiful and bright lemon print, and I think that’s it perfect for all of my baking. I’ve never actually seen an apron like this for sale anywhere, and you would not believe how excited I was in the back of a Winners at 945am on a Saturday morning.
And after buying it, I discovered this super cute and helpful panel tucked on the inside- a conversion chart! It also has the best line: “if all else fails, call for takeout”! We all need to admit defeat when we can, and Kate Spade understands that.
Although I only picked up two smaller and inexpensive items, these have been a fantastic pick-me-up! While you certainly have to put the time in at places like that, you can find some gems.
