Weekend Coffee Share- 13 January 2017

It’s Friday the 13th and I am drinking Stormy Night Tea. (It’s got chocolate, coconut, and cinnamon- it’s delicious.) If you were sitting across from me, I would have to make sure that you warm and not freezing as Winnipeg has just received our third winter storm/blizzard since the beginning of December. I love winter but this is really starting to wear me down, physically and mentally. Last winter was exceptionally warm and mild, so it is making this winter feel even more harsh.

My car battery died earlier this week, and my car just died in the middle of the road. I wasn’t hurt, and at the end of the day (due to Christmas money) it didn’t end up being too expensive, even with a few other repairs that they found. Sometimes it is surprising what makes your day in adulthood… Yesterday was a tougher day, with the storm. I left before 7, to make sure I would get to work on time with the blowing snow. Well, I made it about 45 seconds down my country road and almost ended up in the ditch (driving 20km/hour). Visibility was literally zero, and my only point of reference was the top of telephone poles. I slowly reversed to the nearest driveway, turned around, and parked in the garage. By the time I was looking to try leaving again, my highway closed. ANOTHER DAY AT HOME DUE TO WEATHER. What is happening???

I’ve been spending a lot of time this week working on the blog and thinking about changes. I think I am going to drop down to five days a week on the blog, with Tuesdays and Saturdays being my breaks! It will allow me to put more time into other posts and work on images/graphics, social media, and new series. I’m hoping to move to my own domain (on WordPress.com) by the end of March, so I’m poking around with themes and options on that!

I started blogging for the community aspect. I know that some people want to blog for a career, for free product, for exposure, and every one of those is totally legitimate. For me, it’s all about people! I’ve been meeting and connecting with more and more bloggers and while I might not have a gigantic blog or a make up kit full of gifted products, but I couldn’t be happier with the bloggers that I am “meeting”. There are some really talented ladies and gentlemen out there, and I am lucky to connect with you!

Finishing on a personal positive, I am really happy with my wardrobe right now. I picked up a few new pieces in States, and they fit well in my wardrobe while elevating it to a slightly more mature place. Realistically I will be approaching thirty in the next few years, and I need my wardrobe to less “just out college” (because I’m not, cue sad/old face) and more “functioning adult”.

What is your winter looking like right now?

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!

You are definitely not old! And I still refuse to believe you’ll be thirty soon.

That’s my logic too, unless I turn into a Benjamin Button looking child!

I am generally not a big tea drinker, but your tea today sounds amazing! I only realized it was Friday the 13th yesterday as I was driving to work. I am really glad the repairs to your car weren’t too major, and glad you are staying safe in the blizzard. I hear you on the whole adult wardrobe thing. For me it’s been made a little trickier lately since I just switched careers from a super stuffy, conservative corporate environment, now to a small cool, hip, young startup where frayed jeans and nose rings are totally cool. Now I feel a bit stodgy in my grey and black Banana Republic work suits. After two days on the new job I’ve realized I’ll need a few new pieces to fit in 😉

      1. I *love* Banana Republic and I won’t stop wearing it.
      2. I still can’t figure it out- too young and I look like a student, too old and I look like I’m playing dress up! There is no winning 😦

Yeah that’s a bit much for a shirt! I love their work dresses as well, but they generally retail at about $150 😦
