Style Saturday, 7 January 2017

Welcome to the first Style Saturday of 2017! Because I usually get to do a little bit of shopping at Christmas (thank you Boxing Day/Week sales), January is usually a fun time for my style. Sure, I have to bury it at the beginning and end of the day in sweatpants, hoodies, and parkas but for most of the day I get to enjoy my new clothes and start the new year with a new(ish) look! This week was a little rushed but in addition to the pieces themselves, I will also try to post action shots in the coming Style Saturdays. Now, onto the good stuff- the first half of my new Kate Spade items!

Rosette Sweater in Red, Kate Spade

M is the absolute best boyfriend in the world, and bought me this beautiful Kate Spade sweater that is eye catching and stunning from pretty much every angle. It is a fantastically bright red that is flattering for pale folks such as myself, a thin but warm and incredibly soft cotton/cashmere/viscose blend, and rosettes that add the perfect detail that isn’t distracting. I wore it to our evening out at the symphony with a simple black A-Line skirt, and three different women complimented me on it! You could dress it up or down and make it work for pretty much anything. Some of Kate Spade’s pieces aren’t particularly practical but this is the exact opposite while still being chic! If you are interested, it is still available on the site- let me know if you end up getting it!

Bon Shopper in Cold Comfort, Kate Spade

M’s parents gave me the cutest tote- IT HAS POLAR BEARS!!!! If you recall, M gave me Pete (the KS Polar Bear watch) for my birthday, and these polar bears are Pete’s brethren. I think that they are absolutely adorable and I love the light blue/navy colour scheme. My Scottie dog version of the Bon Shopper is cute, too, but is looking a little worse for wear now. This is the perfect update, and I think I love the polar bears even more than the Scotties! This tote is available throughout the year in various prints in the outlet and surprise sales, and in my opinion is one of the best Kate Spade items you can buy. It is a wonderful work tote, and is also perfect for an overnight trip or carry-on on the plane. The vinyl wipes off easily and the straps are comfortable- I can’t recommend it enough!

Neda Wallet in Cherry Liquer, Kate Spade

Another outlet/surprise sale item, and I think that every Spadie should own at least one Neda. Made from the same vinyl as the Bon Shopper, this is a durable and spacious wallet that has twelve card slots, three separate areas for bills, a coin purse, and two slim pockets for notes and longer cards. They have improved it from my last model- it is 2-3 mm bigger, and the inner coin pocket zipper doesn’t catch anymore. The red plaid print matches my red plaid Maise perfectly. M just gets me, he really does.

I am well and truly spoiled, and I am so thankful for these! M and his family always know just what to get for me. These are all actually items that I considered getting for myself in the fall, so they are literally perfect for me!

Do you have any favourite new items brightening your January?

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!

Love all your new Kate Spade pieces!! That sweater is adorable. I love little accents like those rosettes. All of my new clothing I’m excited about is new running clothes haha – I get far too excited over spandex!

I am still weirdly excited about my running shoes! I was on the hunt for more Tracker shorts from Lulu but no such luck 😦

These pieces are so cute!! The polar bear tore is so freaking cute. I have to say, M has some pretty good taste in Kate Spade!
