Weekend Coffee Share, 29 December 2016

If we were sharing tea, hot chocolate, coffee, or any other beverage, I would tell you them I am in Seattle enjoying my time. I’m super frustrated that it took so long and such a convoluted path to get here but the positive is that I’m here!

Work has been pure insanity for the last few months, so I’m excited to have a vacation with M. We did choose long distance (versus not staying together, waaaaaay back when) but sometimes you just want a hug after a hard day. I am super pissed off that West Jet stole so much of that time from me. Perhaps I will do a post on long distance relationships- would anyone be interested in that?

I don’t plan on doing a ton of shopping this trip. I’m trying to be thoughtful about which pieces I buy, and keep my budget on track. I want to focus on timeless pieces of better quality that I will be able to wear 5, 10 years down the road. Winnipeg is kind of a dead end for style, at least for me. A lot of Winnipeg shoppers are looking for the best bargain possible; while I appreciate that saving money is always wonderful, it doesn’t necessarily lead to the best quality items. I am hoping to check out Loft and Ann Taylor, Fran (from Franish) always finds gorgeous pieces from there!!

Blog wise, I’ve decided that I’m really going to focus on social media for the next 2-3 months and build up my presence. Come January I’m going to try and work with Pinterest 2-3 days a week! My Twitter and Instagram are slowly growing but I’m going to be active daily. I still don’t know what “look” I want my instagram to have, but hopefully I can figure that out with consistency and time. I am trying to find the blogs I love on social media but it’s surprisingly hard to find some people.

Finding your phrase or word of the year seems to be big in the bullet journal community. It took a while for me to settle on one- still not sure how to make sure I actually go with it. I decided to go with something familar- my phrase for 2017 is Live With Purpose. It’s the motto of Alpha Gamma Delta, my sorority, and I want there to be thought and purpose in everything that I do. It’s applicable to life in general but I’m hoping that it will help re-energise my involvement in Alpha Gam.

What have you been up to this weekend?

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!

I’m jealous of your Seattle trip! I’ve yet to visit, but my husband and I both really want to go some day. The Pacific Northwest is just so far from Nashville though. 😦

I would also love to hear your thoughts on long distance relationships. My husband I were long distance on two separate occasions, each for about a year. It really was hell, so I feel you.

    Happy new year!

PS – I meant to also say, I am in the same boat with you regarding social media. Funny you should mention it in your post today, because I literally just wrote a post about that myself today. One of my biggest blogging goals in 2017 is to have a solid social media presence that I keep up with. So, yesterday I spent a good three hours working on various profiles!
