We have come to the end of my #ShowYourPurpose contest for Fraternity Friday! It was a great experience, and I was happy to “meet” some new Alpha Gams along the way- Alpha Gamma Delta is made up of some very inspiring women, and I’m lucky that I can call them sisters.
I know that people are attracted to Greek houses and pretty pictures and produced videos, I wanted to get at the heart of Alpha Gamma Delta, why we are actually members. For anyone who wasn’t following the contest, each week looked at a different line of the Purpose and people shared pictures that showcased how they live that particular line. I believe that we are all dedicated and intelligent women and that we should strive to live out the Purpose in our own way, this contest was to encourage that! If you are curious, this is the full Alpha Gamma Delta Purpose:
To gain understanding that wisdom may be vouchsafed to me.
To develop and prize health and vigor of body.
To cultivate acquaintance with many whom I meet.
To cherish friendships with but a chosen few and to study the perfecting of those friendships.
To welcome the opportunity of contributing to the world’s work in the community where I am placed because of the joy of service thereby bestowed and the talent of leadership multiplied.
To honor my home, my country, my religious faith.
To hold truth inviolable, sincerity essential, kindness invaluable.
To covet beauty in environment, manner, word and thought.
To possess high ideals and to attain somewhat unto them.
This shall be my Purpose that those who know me may esteem Alpha Gamma Delta for her attainments, revere her for her purposes and love her for her womanhood.
So, with an absolutely huge thank you to everyone who participated, I have drawn the winner, and it is……. kamrynk1904 for her photo for week 4, “To cherish friendships with but a chosen few and to study the perfecting of those friendships”! I love that Alpha Gam specifically reminds us to cherish friendships and actually work at them, as they are so important in our lives and mean more than we realise, perhaps. She looks so happy, and I think that she is a fantastic representation of our Fraternity! Her prize pack is being mailed shortly to celebrate her win- congratulations again!
In the new year, Fraternity Friday will be going down to a monthly feature. While I do love writing it, I recognise that it is quite a niche topic and that realistically most NPC sorority alumnae aren’t overly involved once they have graduated. I’m always happy to answer any inquiries anyone might have on sororities or Greek Life in general, and I look forward to my monthly posts!
