Unabridged Sass Blogger Tag!

I was absolutely thrilled when The Unabridged Sass tagged me in her Blogger Tag! This is one of the most interesting tags I’ve seen- these are the types of questions that really let you get to know a blogger. If you aren’t already reading Christy’s blog, stop now and read it, and then come back when you are finished!

Alright then, glad to have you back! I have tagged a few bloggers below to answer these questions and share the love. Without further adieu..

Can you tell me a little about yourself?

Hmmm, where to start? I’m an historian (as implied by the title of my blog…), or at least trained as a historian! I completed my Masters in Dublin, which is where I met my boyfriend. I’m an involved alumna of my sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, and a ballet dancer still taking classes. I spend more time reading than I probably should, and I definitely love Christmas more than anyone should.

Describe your blog in four words.

Varied, creative, nerdy, fun.

What exactly made you want to start a blog?

I was going through my regular list of blogs that I read, and I was frustrated that the large majority of what I read was sponsored posts and professional photography. I don’t want to know what an outfit or item looks like when a professional photographer spends 20 minutes to get the exact right shot- I want to know what it is going to look like when I’m with my friends and someone takes a regular ol’ picture on their phone. And I don’t want to know how much they love an item when it was given to them for free- I want to know if they think that the item is worth what a normal person would actually pay for it. I wanted to make a relate-able blog that regular people would see themselves in.

Tell me the most memorable thing that has happened to you this year.

I would have to say going back to ballet again. Not hugely exciting to most people, but ballet is such a big part of my life- I am thrilled to be back in the studio. The RWB is a renowned school that I am lucky to be dancing with. They are also a fantastic company who do a lot for their patrons- I won free tickets to see Dracula at the end of the month, I was able to see the company dancers at Barre After Hours, and my mom and I were lucky enough to attend a working rehearsal for Dracula last week. Ballet makes me happy!

Tell me about a time that you took a huge risk- did it pay off? What happened?

I went to Ireland for my Masters! Although I was excited to go, I was also terrified. I was quiet when I got there for the first while, I mostly studied. However, in the middle of October, I met an Alpha Gam, and in November, I met another good friend at ballet class. It turns out that at the end of November I would meet my now boyfriend at the National Museum of Ireland! In addition to everyone I met, I also learned how to be a real person on my own. Turns out that living in a foreign country on your own forces you to be resourceful!

If you could have dinner with any two people, dead or alive, fictitious or real, who would they be? Why?

Catherine Morland, the heroine of Northanger Abbey, because she has the same fantastical imagination that I might happen to suffer from myself. Also, because I think she would simply be great fun to hang out with!

Darcey Bussell, the current president of the Royal Academy of Dance and retired Principal Dancer of the Royal Ballet! I think that she has an absolutely brilliant mind for dance, and a dancer of any age could learn everything from her. She represents the Academy well, and I love that she is making ballet accessible through all of her ventures!

Who are your “fictional three” tv characters? (Pick three tv characters that are, well, you AF)

Laurel Castillo from How to Get Away With Murder (aside from the murder part…), Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls (without the huge life detour that was committing a felony), and Greer Castleroy from Reign!

What do you think makes your blog unique from others?

I would like to think that I have a pretty normal life, and that my blog reflects that. Not sponsored products continuously, or crazy amounts of travel, or hugely extravagant items, but just a regular person. I also think that there aren’t a ton of Canadian bloggers out there, though I would love to see more!

If you could eat anything right now, what would it be?

Taco salad, mozza sticks, shortbread, and Irish breakfast tea. I’m not saying it is a cohesive meal, but I’m hungry right now….

What is your favorite quote?

“As soon as I saw you, I knew a grand adventure was about to happen.” Winnie the Pooh

Thank you again to the Unabridged Sass! I would love to hear from…..

I’m looking forward to hearing from everyone! And if you weren’t tagged but want to answer, feel free to answer!!

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!
