Although I would love it more than anything, I promise that not every Wednesday will have Westies! However, this past weekend I was lucky enough to fulfil one of my lifelong dreams to attend a Westie gathering. Sunday, September 11, the Winnipeg Westie Walk was held at a beautiful park, and over 40 Westies gathered to celebrate just how awesome they are. I wasn’t sure if people would like that a random Westie lover who doesn’t actually have a Westie showed up, but everyone was so friendly! One of my sister’s good friends was their with her two little guys (Hi, Mason! Hi, Bailey!), and I just plunked myself down and started petting them! I don’t know what it is, but I am always able to win over a Westie. I’m guessing it’s because they can sense my immediate undying love and devotion. When I pulled up in the parking lot, I could hear a piper and high-pitched barks- it was happening. The moment I spotted all of the beardies and the carrot tails and the pure westitude, I was in my happy place. What an event. Dozens and dozens of perfect little Westies all in one spot! And now that I’ve been, I will do my best to attend next year, too!
This is the sight I was greeted with- happy people and happy Westies!
I can’t get over how well behaved everyone’s pup was. There was one or two little flare ups here and there, but overall, just bum-smells and smiles aplenty!
These adorable little Westies just spread the love and had a fantastic time out in the sun! It really makes me think about how much time I spend stressed out when I could really just be having a good day like these guys.
Mason and Bailey, in action! They are so sweet and friendly, and were more than happy to put up with my incessant pets. Even though they are on a forked leash, I can tell they get into quite a bit of Westie mischief! If you want to know why rescuing a Westie is one of the best things you can do, you just have to look at Mason and Bailey 🙂
This little floofer had all the Westitude possible! My goal is to pull off the bedhead look as well as she did.
Westie kisses for all!
This is Tom, Tom used to be a Westie stud. Tom has fantastic eyebrows, an adorable crooked ear, and enough charm to win over the biggest cat fan around! I like to imagine he spends his days patrolling the highlands and settling down with a good cuppa.
This is Maggie. Maggie. LOVED. me. She cuddled on my lap, she gave me so, so many puppy kisses, and she stayed by my side for quite some time! I would love for her to meet Daisy, I think that they would get along famously. Her sister Maisie was also very friendly, and the best Westie patrol-guard I’ve ever seen!
That is one of the best #TongueOutTuesday pictures, I’ve ever seen. If you are having a bad day, just look at this Westie smile!
…Obviously I was going to take a selfie with Maggie.
Next year, I hope that I can volunteer and help with the Walk! Obviously I am over the moon about Westies, and the walk was able to raise over $500 for Westie rescues. I would love to be able to be a part of it, and help any way that I can.
If you had a dream charity event, what would it be?
