Style Saturday- 3 September 2016

This Style Saturday is devoted to the second half of my Kate Spade outlet purchases! I have to say, on the whole, I was incredibly restrained in my purchases-especially given the whole 60% +20% dealio. Like I said last week, I was really interested in picking up accessories, necklaces in particular. Kate Spade has some truly adorable retail necklaces, but I’m not overly interested in spending $80+ USD on an everyday necklace. I spent a good amount of my time in the shop comparing different necklaces and deciding which I would actually get use out of. I think I made some great choices!  Unfortunately, there aren’t any similar necklaces on the Kate Spade site. If you aren’t able to get to an outlet, I would recommend waiting for a surprise sale, as they generally have a few different pieces of jewellery that aren’t quite as “statement piece” as the retail necklaces.

Scatter Necklace with Pearls, Kate Spade

Because I’m an Alpha Gam, I’m conditioned to love pearls. I already have short and long strands of pearls, but I wanted something that was a little more casual than that. I typically stick with silver and white gold jewellery, but the outlet only had yellow gold. I love the jewel details with the pearls, and the fact that it’s not overwhelming. When I wear this, it adds to an outfit without stealing any attention- just what I like! It’s also a good length. I prefer longer necklaces but as a more petite person I often look weird in longer necklaces because they can reach my waist. Originally $78 USD, I snagged this for just under $25 USD!

Scatter Necklace with Cut Out Spades, Kate Spade

Just as my Cut Out Keychain called my name, so did this necklace. I adore the cut out spade, it is an understated call out to the brand that a lot of people don’t notice. This necklace also adds a lot of finish to an outfit without distracting from the clothing. I wear this necklace probably 60%-70% of the time now, it’s pretty much my perfect necklace (aside from not being silver). For $15.36 USD (instead of $48 USD), I could not have found a better deal! A lot of the retail necklaces are statement pendants, but I love this quiet but delicate style.

Strawberry Coin Purse, Kate Spade

I have always loved Kate Spade’s coin purses- they are cute and fun and hold a good amount. You could certainly fit a small lip chap, some change, and a few cards if you wanted to! I didn’t know if I would want to carry around something else, but I’m finding it quite convenient to have something smaller to bring with me when we run down to Tim Hortons on tea breaks. I love actual chocolate covered strawberries, and I knew I had to have this when I saw it. You know I love it when I was willing to pay full price for it! I didn’t actually have to pay full price, though- $79 USD originally, down to $26 USD. An adorable coin purse that reminds me of my favourite treat with the perfect detailing for less than half price?? You can’t say no!! Also, the marks on the chocolate on the back are just my finger prints, because I can’t stop playing with the coin purse…

I bought some great pieces, saved a ton of money, and didn’t go over budget- I would say that this trip was a major success. I always enjoy being able to find Kate Spade clothing pieces, but my wallet enjoys smaller accessories more! I feel like I have enough accessories and jewellery now for my wardrobe, and I feel like I have achieved a good balance between being a grown-up and having fun.

What is your holy grail store? What sale makes you stop and take notice?

Until tomorrow,
The Historian!

Lovely finds!! My holy grail store is Tory Burch. Based on historical data there is a 100% chance I will spend money when I walk through the doors there. 🙂

I have yet to get to a Tory Burch store, but I have a feeling when I do, my wallet will be much lighter walking out! I desperately want a pair of Minnie travel flats 🙂
