I’ve been spending less time reading blogs lately- I’m finding that a lot of blogs that I follow aren’t following a blogging schedule, or if they are, it’s heavily reduced. (As someone pairing down their schedule for two weeks, I can understand and appreciate why.) There were a few blogs that I followed faithfully who disappeared for 6 plus months without any explanation upon return that I’ve given up- I don’t need any specifics, but a simple, “I had some personal things to deal with” to acknowledge that there actually was a long absence. I think that’s only fair to acknowledge it to your readers. But alas, I have still found wonderful new blogs to follow, and I am more than happy to share them with you!
Katie’s blog is mostly travel posts with a sprinkling of other lifestyle topics! While I love her travel posts, I do enjoy that she includes other topics as the large majority of us are not constantly travelling about. She is a graphic designer by trade, and has a fantastic portfolio that I recommend you take a look through- her calendars are gorgeous! Favourite posts? I’m All About That Barre and Kentucky Derby Party!
Now, I’m sure that a lot of people are not overly interested in the history of Parliament, and how it came to be what it is today, but I find it fascinating. This blog focuses on the UK parliament (as a Canadian, we have small differences here and there), and is hosted by academics based in London. Given the recent Brexit, this is more relevant now than ever. For anyone who is even minutely interested in Parliament and how it works or UK/European politics, certainly give this a read! These posts are cool and different stories, without being difficult to digest. Favourite Post? House of Lords 1660-1715… Duelling!
I’ve been checking in on this blog for a few months now, and I’m hooked. I miss living in Dublin something fierce, and hearing about someone going to Centra perks me up! I love her style, and her commentary that accompanies. I love that the pieces featured hit a wide variety of price points from Topshop to Stella McCartney- I find that the most stylish people never stick solely to one price range. This is a must-read for anyone interested in style! Favourite Posts? Pleats Please and What to Do in Dublin This Week!
BB’s blog is dedicated to chick-lit, which I absolutely love! So many people write chick-lit off as being flip and fluffy, but isn’t reading about escaping? Sometimes, we just want to escape to a place that doesn’t employ ever single fibre of thought we possess. She reviews a huge number of chick-lit authors, including many lesser known authors. You are also lucky enough to read interviews with some of the authors, themselves- not something we can often enjoy! Favourite Posts? The Little Village Bakery and The Little Bookshop on the Seine!
Fran Becque is the leading historian of Greek Life in North America, and I desparately wish that I could work with her. Many academics dismiss Greek Life but I believe that it plays an integral role in the history of universities in North America, and I think that there is so much more work that could be done on it. (I have been making my way through my own research project, though it’s taking it’s time….) She examines all NPC and IFC groups, as well as other fraternal organisations- no favourites here! It’s incredible to read her posts when you realise just how storied and accomplished Greeks are. Favourite Posts? 10 Sorority Women From the Golden Age of Television and Holiday Decorating in GLO Style!
Chrissey’s blog is fairly new, but she’s not afraid to speak her mind or post about any topic. I’m personally not a Taco Bell fan, but I love that she wrote about her favourite options and hacks- we all have our fast food preference, and people need to speak up! I’m looking forward to reading her next posts! Favourite Post? I Admit It, I Don’t Like Kate Spade’s New Collection!
Once again, let me know if you read any of these, or if you have any blogs to recommend!
